You play as a human male astronaut with a class of your choosing (security, engineer, scientist) part of a big long-term colony expedition going on a generational voyage through space. As background, when starting out on the trip the ship's crew including you are all turbo-optimistic Star Trek types who are obligated to always give peace and tolerance a chance. You are one of the guys who makes first contact with a species of literal body snatcher / pod people aliens and despite your ideology and that of your crew, you act on instinct when they try to "replace" one of your team during first contact talks and violently attack; you get lethally injured during the fight and get put in expensive cryosleep with your CO begrudgingly telling you that despite your bigotry, they'll still try to save your life when they find out a way how.Fast forward two decades and you are finally awakened for medical treatment, but things have changed dramatically on the ship. The crew tried the whole "peace and tolerance wins over all" thing with the pod people aliens and it worked, for a while. The pod people integrated into the crew and followed the rules to not "replace" anyone without permission, but eventually their numbers crew and by this point in time the tolerance of the true humans is on its last rope. Without a permission to directly confront the threat, the rightful concern has manifested into a lot of deep-seated xenophobia that has made the colonists fuck up their interactions with many other likely more peaceful species and security officers have become increasingly more paranoid and brutal.Things finally snap when one of the pod people gets attacked while you're talking to your old girlfriend, who is like 30 years older and married by now, in the dining room. Driven by a cultural imperative of human guilt to impress her with your out group bias, you try to protect the pod people from the true humans. cont.

You have to ensure long term survival in a conventional way, or to alter the past so that none of this shit happens.I haven't come up with an actual game system though. What do you all think?
