From his perspective, it actually shows that Sensei cares about Mika more than other students since he actually tried to rehabilitate her, even though he was somewhat cold in doing so. From my perspective, he's an unnecessary asshole in that Momotalk because he doesn't apply that mindset to any of the other problem girls, even ones that are much worse off than Mika, like Hoshino or Haruna for example. So I think that while Sensei being a counseling force for the students is an interesting approach, it's something you have to be consistent with. Otherwise you end up with memes like Sensei flipping out on Maki for graffiti while Haruna commits a terrorism and kidnapping every other hour and he doesn't even try to broach the subject.
