Just catching up on the previous thread and I really don't understand the hatred for Akashi. His story is a bit exaggerated, but very believable. How many stories out there of a guy's girlfriend cheating on him and then dumping him when a richer / more successful guy comes along? And anecdotes of someone do all the grunt work in a company only for their manager to take all the credit and pass them up for promotion is all too common. Personally I started out as a fresh green wild eyed idealist grad who trusted everyone and thought coworkers were my friends. Now I realize no one in the workplace really gives a shit about you and it is up to you to achieve your own success.

The only unrealistic part of Akashi imo is how he turned to ruining people's lives and getting them to commit suicide, but it's implied Magatsumi is influencing him such as during his boss fight where he was starting to see reason then he gets powered up by the whales and goes berserk.

Additionally: There is also a weapon selector after the character selector that should probably go to Chord Weapon. Then on the week of the actual anniversary there is a super character selector that goes further. The full list is unconfirmed, but it went to at least Mont-Swan on the equivalent CN version. Biggest pickup from the super selector for a new player would be Oracle, since she'd be your #2 Navi after Ange for all 2 party content for at least 6 months. And there's a couple velvet trial technician stages that are essentially Oracle mandatory.

If we're talking ease of use, then yes. He has some light sustain and has a two turn rotation that syncs with the strongest supports (twins, wind, turbo, ange). But in terms of pure damage ceiling? Nah, that's Rin who can nuke every turn after the first, has a dedicated support in Matoi (who deals decent damage and has sustain), has dedicated personas in nian and throne, and she'll get even more supports cause of door's supporting cast.

I mean like, there's nothing stopping you from using both. Especially in ranked content where you can't share between fights.
But please take a look at the two - Cohesion lasts for 2 turns and Dominion's passive lasts only 1 turn. Rebellion / Revolution lasts for 3 turns while Dionysus' passive lasts for 2.
So if you want to use Dominion, in order to get good benefits from it you have to use it every single turn. Dionysus allows you to switch off to another persona and still benefit.
And most damage dealers have a specific persona (usually bought with level 4 coins) that synergizes with them - and you do want to use that.
So with some skill inheritance, you can set up a good cycle where you're using Dionysus to cast Rebellion, Dionysus to cast Tarukaja, and then whatever that character specific thing is and get constant benefits from Dionysus' skills and passive.
And of course, the highlight is only a portion of a character's damage - for many of them it's less than their turn-to-turn damage. Think of Haru, or FGMont, or CNY Rin - their highlights are pretty minimal in the grand scheme of things. And the increases from Crit rate/crit damage are more than the increases from just atk/damage boosting (this also shows in their preferred card stats)

And as for some other useful ones besides character specific ones:
>Surt is a good sweeper support - Marakunda is very useful for fights with lots of enemies
>Janosik is surprisingly great for single bosses - his marks + you probably want to teach him Rakunda
>Norn gives shields while also giving enemies Windswept, which lowers their defense and is useful for characters that want ailments on enemies

If they are going to add another competitive ranking mode I suspect they will release new units good for that mode to get people to roll again similar to how Chord fell off like a sack of bricks after the P3 cast came out. And based on that trend I vaguely suspect the P4 collab will have Rise as the busted navigator for years to come.
