That means you need to pick your primary with the sole purpose of killing chaff enemies, because you'll be using the HMG to exclusively kill mediums and certain heavies (Hulks, Impalers, Fleshmobs, Interlopers, Gunships, Exomechs). A Guard Dog also works super well since it can protect you while you're stationary reloading, and you may or may not want to consider EAT for dealing with true heavies like Bile Titans and the like.
