I definitely don't mind the accents as much in the voiced games. Maybe the writers are trying to compensate for an inability to just hear an accent by exaggerating it so much, but it just calls too much attention to itself for me.
Even then, my concern in that shot was the way that such explicit references like that take me right out of the game and leave me questioning how much of the game's dialog is even close to the intended effect. I'm playing with party chat since people talked up how much it adds to IV, but it doesn't add much for me if it feels like it may as well be fanfiction.

all i want for 8 is a mishmash port of the ps2 and 3DS version, as in the 3DS version with the ps2 graphics. Over world encounters add flavor being able to see the creatures in the environment of an area like seeing skeleton themed monsters in a crypt scutter around, lets you quickly get into as many encounters as possible when it's time to farm xp than use a bolted in ability like whistle, or obviously avoid encounters which is nice when you just want to progress the plot. I think dq11 did it pretty badly with the monsters being so passive that you honestly had to go out of you way to fight them but other games like persona and ffxi it's to a great effect

DQVII never gets glazed. It has some diehard fans in these parts, but nobody says it's a game for everyone. I'm a firm believer DQVII is the DQ game for DQ autists due to the focus on item collecting and story vignettes. And that's why I love it.

DQVIIR also has its own issues, too. I don't think the art direction is one of them, but the cut content, added content, and shuffling of events are all handled really poorly. I wouldn't say it's indicative of DQVII PS1's quality.

I think 7R is contentious because, regardless of what you think about 7, we've now fully stepped into "remove content from remake under the guise of streamlining/appealing to modern audiences" territory. We already had a taste of this when 6DS gutted monster recruitment, along with other questionable changes, when every remake before then was pretty much an upgrade over the original. But now the precedent has been fully set and there's no telling what shit they'll gut and dumb down in any future remakes, or mainline games in general moving forward.
And 7 is not my favorite but it always had its fans. No, it wasn't a super popular game but it also wasn't entirely hated either like some would have you believe. But considering the last few remakes I guess we're beyond caring about older fans at this point so whatever.

So umm, Dragon Quest 11 is my first DQ game. I picked up the Definitive Edition on sale a month and I just entered the post game
I'm actually fine with the story up to where the party defeats Mordegon but the post game story is just really retarded on its premise

It's pretty silly. I think the state of the world should've just been portrayed as worse in act 2, which would've improved that whole section of the game and better justified act 3. Lots more people than just Veronica are supposed to have died, but after the opening section in Heliodor things just don't seem that bad. More destroyed areas and maybe Yggdrasil only coming back as a sapling instead of being completely restored would've made a big difference, I think.
I still enjoyed act 3 because it's just a lot of fun to play, easily the best postgame in the series in that department. The story's pretty stupid at points but the stuff with the true final boss is kind of neat, and it's all much higher effort than usual.

I'm enjoying VII Reimagined quite a bit. It's my first and so far only DQ, so it's not like I have much of a frame of reference.
Whenever I'm done I want to get the I, II, and III Remasters afterwards. Very fun game, I regret not getting into this series sooner.

On the contrary, they're very strong.

Dancer/Jester have weirdly high charm scaling damage during the midgame. Jester can even cheese ailment heavy bosses.
Dancer inherited the extremely OP Egg On skill from the DQ2/3 HD.
Troubadour has elemental resistance hymns, divine intervention (magical sap) and Encore is mandatory for a specific cheese strategy later on.
Luminary is also incredibly strong because of Oomph, Pass the Torch, Hustle Dance and that move that makes it easier for everyone else to get worked up.
I forgot who has Snap, Crackle, Poof which when combined with Forbearance is my favorite anti whack/thwack encounter strat. Loved that shit in DQ2 HD since it made Mimics into a free encounter.
