I understand why it would look like there are random ones here and there to those that don't play, but most, of course, take into consideration the character designs quite heavily. At the bare minimum the colors are consistent with the design, at it's best the whole shape corelates with the theme of their design or nature. And again quite often students of the same faction have similar halos on top of it. Here are some examples a certain autistic ninja club raccoon has a giant shuriken for example, a white yuki onna type beaty has two falling snowflakes, someone with a certain unique bodily characteristic has it resembled in their halo like wings, or two tails, a chuunibyou who thinks of herself as an ally of justice and always calls herself a "super star" has a star shaped halo, two siblings have the similar shaped halos because they are closely related, one depressed suicidal girl has a halo almost looking like cuts on an arm. The list goes on, so sorry you are just plain wrong.

Halos are important to the world, are not "useless", like you tried to say previously, to the character's design, but supplement it in a meaningful way. And are important to the interactions of the said world and story (like you tried to grasp at straws previously as well) as I said like 3 or something posts above.
