When you make a character that requires custom detailed eyes, do you tend to focus more on painting in everything to match them as close as possible (resulting in forever staring open eyes or painted parts not moving along with the Mii's eyes) or do you try to make something that sticks within the limits of the normal Mii's eyes so they work naturally?

how the fuck do people do this?i'm trying to use 3x3 painting for a design but i am constantly losing my place because the painting tool doesn't have a way to set the grid to fit 3x3's. i have to individually count my steps. it's making it frustrating; i have to go line by line, and if i fuck up i spend like 10 minutes going "(right right right) one... (right right right) two..."it's easier with 1x1's for me but then it takes fucking forever to finish
