No. It actually adds extra layers of unexpected difficulty. With 2D art you always make it look better by rendering a little more, pushing colors furthers etc. In 3D it's indirect and done through million formulas, so the result is hard to predict unless you've made a lot 3D art before.
People only put up with it because animating 3D is a lot more efficient.

There's a lot of ways to improvize and stylize when it comes to 3d art. You can get away with flat colors, gradients or you can use programs like substance painter and even turn that into pixelized textures.

With 2d you got one path and that's to make good art. There's no way around it.

You have 40 years of game art to imitate. Just put down basic shape of your game object, put down layer of neutral color, put down layer of shadows, add some highlights where light hits and if it still looks a little flat, overlay a texture of material or draw a reflection. 2D art is a method, you don't need to be DaVinci.

Its interesting how just cranking the numbers immediatley adds personality.

I've also added status effects to the game and a two turn slow to the rangers attack. I wont lie it feels a bit too boring right now so i will probably look for somthing more interesting like pierce or somthing.

I've learned a lot about rpg design in this game, I wasn't planning on adding initative but attacking first is such a huge advantage that I feel like I have to.

My idea is if your watchtower is a higher level than your enemy you attack first

Gratz anon. Though for me, simple going from bashing your head in trying to solve a glitch to it suddenly working is such a rush of euphoria that that high alone is worth it all. In that fraction of a moment I can suddenly relate to how the pharos and god-kings of old must have felt when they believed themselves to be living gods. Humility comes crashing back in pretty fast, but still, that moment is nice
