I've gotten there for ground and air now and it's really fun, but theres a lot to love in the lower tiers as well. Heli grind is pure hell even with premium that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Personally I say play it if you're having fun and grind the events you think are cool, but don't let it consume your life and play other shit too or you'll just burn out.

How the hell do some of these anons have 5+ K/Ds?I feel pretty great having 2-3 K/Ds on the handful of my favorite tanks, but even then, I feel pretty bad at the game with the majority of tanks, despite having positive ratios.I think my biggest issue is that it's so easy to just start autopiloting. In addition to that, even after around 150 or so hours, I have a hard time figuring out where the enemy team wants to go, or where is/isn't good cover, or when I should be repositioning.

If you're playing mainly ground make sure to learn the common weakspots on most models of tank, and learn what the different ammo types are, penetration isn't everything. At top tier you mostly can shoot every tank in the same spots but at lower BR's there's a lot more variety in layout. Don't worry about air. If you get to a point where you must have an aircraft, I'd recommend a squadron or premium or event vehicle rather than grinding up to top tier. Top tier air is kind of a clusterfuck right now and a lot more difficult to learn than top tier ground, which I think is very chill and fun. Helis are OK but grinding them is shit. The only other thing is to take a break if you're getting pissed off, I could play this shit forever but it stops being fun when you get mad.

Aircraft: I don't love props but my favorites are Bf 109, La-11 and J22. For jets I love the F4S, the JA37C, the MIG-21bis, Tornado and the MIG-25. I prefer rank VII to rank VIII or IX because it still has missiles that feel deadly and fun but doesn't just become fox 3 hell like top tier is.I don't think it ever stops being fun but for ground there was a big difficulty spike at least for me at about 8.0-8.7, but it got easier again at top tier. For air I would say it definitively gets less fun after 12.0 because that's when the fox-3 spam starts, but rank VIII and IX are still fun in their own way, just really tedious sometimes and not very well balanced. Fox 1's get introduced in rank VII for the most part and can be effective a lot farther away, usually around 10-20kms, but at high altitude even farther. My record is a ~40km kill with an aim 7 against another space climber. Rank VIII and IX are mainly focused on Fox 3's and is where air becomes less fun in my opinion. But some people love that BR, I just prefer the closer range combat of rank VII.

Just wanted to say thank you to the anon that recommended I level up Italy. It's actually been a lot of fun so far, though I've only cleared everything to 4.0. working on my 4.7 and 5 next, but its been an enjoyable experience. Also, as a slight aside, the starter pack for Italy makes no sense. You get a tank at 2.3 with a pitiful gun, and a plane at 3.0 so you are instantly outclassed on it.
