Support for the Nuked SC-55 CLAP plugin has been added to 86Box. I can confirm it works. Due to license fuckery, though, it's not and cannot be integrated directly into 86Box, so you gotta grab the plugin and SC-55 ROMs from elsewhere. Once you have them, however, it's as simple as creating a plugins folder within the roms folder, then drag and dropping the CLAP plugin and the ROMs in.

Of course, if you have the regular standalone Nuked SC-55 executable and loopMIDI set up, you've no need for this, and it's in fact missing the UI present with the standalone. The biggest advantage of this is the fact that it's fully portable and doesn't require setting literally anything up beyond drag and dropping files.

I don't know that my pack and eXoWin9x are at all comparable. My pack is just a small curation of all kinds of games, from simple 5-to-10 minute time wasters to fully realized games with actual studio backing, limited mostly by my own decision to keep the pack completely self-sufficient and, of course, the well-known performance issues of 86Box. These factors, unfortunately, severely curtail the range of games that I'd otherwise consider adding.

Another thing: it's not really just a games pack, but also something of an overall celebration of old Windows, which is why I added a bunch of extra shit that has nothing to do with games, such as the Plus! themes, MIDI tracks, wallpapers, and sounds from all across various Windows builds (I've even added the Windows XP sounds for shits and giggles; the XP wallpapers will be added Soon™). It also aims to have a fully functional DOS mode, with an accompanying (but optional) DOS games pack. If you don't care about any of that, this might not be the pack for you.

Anyway, all this just to say it's whatever. This is something I'm doing for fun and because I know at least a few people appreciate shit like this.

It's also not a complete replacement for an 86box or DOSbox. There's a benefit to completely replicating a machine, slowness and all. It'll be a lot more compatible with DOS shit and legacy Windows games that depend on a shitty processor or an exact GPU or the game won't start or the physics will go haywire. You can throttle the guest/host OS but that is yet another step and it's still more virtualizer than emulator doing it this way. QEMU-3dfx is just virtualbox on crack; literally considering the dev. It's decent for 2000s games though, but most of those run with wrappers natively.

You forgot the acceleration stack dependency. You need WHPX on Windows for that shit to run acceptably (on top of VT-x/AMD-V of course, like every other VM)

You also need to set up Daemon Tools in the guest OS, because there isn't proper low-level CD block emulation for formats like .ccd or .mdf/.mds.

Yeah, pretty much this is why I'm not using QEMU for the pack. I can't argue against the evident results in terms of performance, and even though the wrapper shit sounds annoying, I'd be willing to do the legwork myself for the sake of the pack... if only it weren't so user unfriendly. I'm not even talking about having to invoke it from a command line (that can be automated). It's the fact that it can't seem to do basic things like change CD images from the host side or transfer files from the host PC in a simple and intuitive way the way VirtualBox or 86Box can. For the individual willing to overlook the flaws in usability, yeah, I can see it being worth using, but for my purposes (which are, again, to provide a fully self-contained pack one can immediately run, work with, and easily add to), it's not what I need, and it's a shame, because the performance benefits are otherwise quite desirable.

You should really stop using Launchbox for your collections. It really bloats up the install size (like seriously, the "lite" version of eXoDOS is a seemly reasonable 5 gb download, but then you pull the rug out from people and have it bloat to 70gb when it's done installing, and that's before you even get around to downloading games for it) on top of just being a piece of shit launcher.
Also, nobody wants, or needs, mp3s and preveiw clips. As the Duke would say, "get that crap outta here". That also goes for the redundant PDF files too, just have the first game in a series come with that stuff, I don't want to download the Wing Commander series and end up with multiple PDFs of the same fucking lore book/strategy guide.
Oh! and while I'm at it, I know there's over 6,000+ games to comb over and all, but you and your Discord butt buddies should really learn to double check your config files. Now granted most of these fuckups are the cycle speeds being set a little too low or a little too high, but Discworld for example. it's config file points to a directory that doesn't even exist and the emulator closes out immediately when you start it. No worries though, I did your job (that you do for free, you see) and fixed it for you, though for a project that's supposed let normalfags play DOS games with as little tinkering as possible, you guys certainly stumble with that.

No.Not a single pack is reliant on the launcher. The launcher uses the bundled emulator to run specific game files with the config and other extras in a separate folder.

Torrents aren't difficult to use. I use Tribler a fair amount. It's still lame to load the torrent, uncheck all but what you need, then hope there's saps out there seeding what you want. Maybe Exo's better in this regard. I dunno. Normal sites with DOS/Windows games go brr and work on my machine.

They have been for a very long time. Dannyboi will never admit it, but emugen is one of the only places that is sympathetic to RetroArch and has lots of knowledgeable people who use it frequently and to its fullest extent while being unafraid to criticize it, so when we point out problems with it or its cores, it's because the issues are almost always real and not an attempt to slander or because we have an axe to grind. Yes, it is. Mostly due to the amount of reports. But I'd rather that the devs wouldn't dismiss the issues entirely. The few times I opened something there, I did my best to provide useful information, and I've seen other people doing it too. If it was my job, I'd just ignore the stupid stuff and bookmark what's important. It's not cool to fuck group of people A because of group B.
