I would imagine pressing shift plus any of the WASD would make your character stop in place for the duration of the button press, which makes using abilties on the fly a deathsentance if you need to move.

So I sorta grew away from the game. I remember being a little higher on the release of Dawntrail compared to most, slightly underwhelmed with the MSQ, I though the second half was fine enough. I stuck around for the first raid tier, but never did savage as I think I was a bit burntout/no reason to play. Im actually a little sad that I didnt get to experience DT more, just because some of the things looked fun, and I have heard good things about the raid tiers. I guess I am a bit sad I never got to experience it to its fullest.

It isnt a degenerate cesspit like Crystal, and Aether I think is overblown how hardcore it is. Primal you get the best of both worlds, the only thing is I would recomend dodging Lamia and I forget the other world on Primal as they have a high spanish pop, but a decent amount of them speak english.

It's been pretty solid for gameplay content but god the story content is just such a mixed bag. As far as the characters go, what's done is done but I think we should revisit certain areas of Tural in future side content because places like Shaaloani deserved better. All we got to see of Xak Tural was Shaaloani and then the wasteland that is Heritage Found. Thancred and Urianger were talking about the cool stuff they saw in Xak Tural and it's a shame we never got to see those places and meet those people ourselves. Alexandria and Solution 9 are cool but I want to explore more of the Source, our time expanding what we've seen of the Source around Tural feels like there's a lot of lost potential there.7.0's story is mid. You can pick it apart but it's serviceable. 7.1's story was lacking, who was writing that and why did they make Koana and Zooral Ja so embarrassing? 7.2 was a step in the right direction, didn't like Calyx as much as I had expected to but I still appreciated him being smart enough to try and assassinate us right away. 7.3 was solid, even if yet another "experience the past via other people's tragic memories" dungeon is a bit trite at this point. Sphene was absolutely the highlight. 7.4 mostly won me over because the Milalas were really cute, I don't have FF9 nostalgia to be pandered to. Seeing Halmarut at the end finally made me feel like the story was getting it's hooks in me for the first time since 6.0. 7.5's story so far has been good, I'm liking Halmarut and I'm eager to see what Calyx is doing moving forward. It was somewhat obvious in Endwalker's patches but in Dawntrail the trials have felt incredibly shoehorned into the story. They need to make them their own trial series again. Hell even Valigarmanda was kinda irrelevant in the end, it's a .0 problem too now.

I'll start with the job that I wound up liking the least and that's Monk. I never figured out how to properly play it and I don't think I want to try until Evolved comes out. Most jobs I can intuit what I'm supposed to be doing, even if it's not the optimal raiding rotation I'm still doing some kind of loop and it's working Monk I never got a grip on. Ninja was also a challenge because you have to memorize the mudras and if I stopped playing ninja for a bit I'd forget them. Also Ten Chi Jin was a pain before they updated it. Reaper was pretty easy because there's no positionals unless you're using charge abilities and the basic rotation seems to be pretty simple. Just follow the glowy buttons until you have charge and then spend charge when you've got buffs up. The tanks were all pretty easy and healing isn't hard either, in casual leveling content you can be pretty hands off with your party most of the time and your damage "rotations" are just spamming the same ability over and over.

I feel like 'lore reasons' don't really make sense for character stuff since they let male Viera and female Hrothgar be playable. According to lore, we shouldn't even have character models for them, let alone have them playable. Also, ever since we got to Near East and saw Roes with different skin tones, it's kind of clear there's not really a good reason to limit player expression. It's clear they can use whatever justification to make the characters to look a certain way, so the players 100% should as well. Just give the Highlanders the option for eyebrows, not like it really breaks anything

And the Alliance Raids (24 mans) and Raids (8 man) don't have AI party members either, but like 90-95% of the MSQ can be done solo. And if you just want to solo, there's even more reason to stay on the free trial, but you really don't care about the sub fee.
