Sometimes I see people wondering what it would be like if I wrote for Sonic.The truth is that remembering a bunch of tiny details doesn't automatically make you a good writer. My memory is offset by my unoriginality and rigidity. So you'd get something accurate, but nothing especially interesting or memorable.If I had to write an official Sonic story, it would be action-focused, even if I don't post much about action. I think the sweet, vulnerable, or romantic moments are better when they're diamonds in the rough against a lot of cool hot-blooded content.In Sonic, cool action is the main dish, and the cute stuff is the spice you sprinkle on top to enhance the flavor. If I wrote a Shadow story, Maria probably wouldn't appear at all. Might not even get namedropped. Shadow's very existence is proof enough that she lived and loved him exactly as he is.But I am not a writer. People like me do better in advisor roles.

I know it's because she's human but it still bothers me that people treat Maria like a baby but Amy like an adult. They're both "12". If anything it should be the other way around, Amy isn't exactly "dumb" but she certainly isn't that smart either. Maria however was a literal genius, did excellent in school, helped invent things, was far more emotionally mature, acted as Shadow's guide, and had spent her life dealing with pain and the fact that she will die early.

So uh i have nothing better to do so i decided to understand surge and kit better as characters, i'm watching a fandub on impostor syndrome. And oh boy, it's so fucking sad, it's incredibly devoid of emotion. The fuck were ian and evan thinking here?Follow me for a second, you're introducing 2 characters who are supposed to ANTAGONIZE the hero, they are both WEAPONS specifically engineered to destroy their targets, you want to build some serious aura around their personas just like ST did with shadow. Remember shadow? Mysterious and dangerous? THAT, then later his backstory will unfold, shadow is a satisfying character because you slowly get to dig inside and see how he changes.And instead i've got this half assed pseudo family with surge being the stubborn rebellious brat who breaks a bunch of things as a sort of showoff followed by daddy issues, and kit... he's just this submissive thing, insecure of everything but hey muh hidden closeted malice as contrast (because someone watched too many anime or something). And starline is this second hand evil genius who strokes his own ego about how powerful and perfected his creations are... only to fail on the very first mission, THE VERY FIRST ACTION SCENE WHERE THEY INTRODUCED TWO VILLAINS, THEY WRITE THEM TO FAIL AGAINST TAILS' LOCKED DOORHOLY HEADACHEThe point is i am very disappointed by their introduction, i don't know what happens after, i got mad too soon without properly reading the rest, but i'm sure that aside my own "brutal and captivating" taste you can't write something like this and pretend it's well crafted, it's infuriating.
