Lore-wise I like my mer alien but since I mostly play Skyrim just to coom nowadays I prefer the more human look from NPC replacers since I don't find elven features attractive. Elf ears actually gross me out for some reason. They can keep the pointy faces in Morrowind though.I don't know if this is already in the lore or not but I think it would be interesting if Bethesda made it so that mer and men had different beauty standards in the TES universe. I could see the Thalmor obviously holding up high elven features at the pinnacle of beauty while regular humans might not be attracted to angular jaundiced lanklets. Likewise some elves might not be attractive to other elves but humans get the hots for them and vice versa. Kinda like how in real life white guys with yellow fever are attracted to overtly asian features like epicanthal folds and yellow skin, but in actual asian countries they don't like those features, hence all the plastic surgery and skin lightening creams. Maybe we could see more stuff like elves (or breton with lots of elven admixture) clipping their ears like Helseth in the Tribunal DLC to appeal better to humans.
