I'm still bad at coding but my friends are better so I just do the art/design/writing stuff mostly.If I had to give any advice it's that there are a lot of indie games and many of the easier genres like platformers and RPGs are extremely oversaturated, so it's better to find a niche where there's interest but not a lot of competition. If you're working by yourself there's a LOT of stuff to learn so I'd probably suggest finding other people to learn with if you can, I feel like solo dev would be pretty overwhelming at least for me. It wasn't a thing when I started but now you can use AI to help with programming... I'd say definitely don't trust or rely on it a lot though, you still have to understand how all the code works or else it'll make problems you won't know how to fix.Uhhh other stuff... play and watch games that are sort of like whatever you're making; see what they do wrong and avoid that while borrowing things they get right. Get playtesters early, make a free demo, don't do full release until you're really ready. Also just do it as a hobby and don't rely on it for money until you're actually earning enough to live else you will have (more) stress and it's very risky. Well duos slightly more painful than usual because aughh Petrificus Totalus is horrendously overpowered (getting chain stunned with Petrificus/Inflatus/Pranktastic while being eaten by summons is so fun!) but not *too* bad on the whole...Fun fact, Pranktastic Present stun works even through revive invulnerability, and even if you destroy the present.
