Met this bitch for the first time today.Lost a game to anything other than war for the first time today.Did she ever stop vagueposting about her plan or was there any lore explanation somewhere to her ending all suffering?Sure I know the scripting mechanics of her situation now but wtf is it in a narrative sense? Can't be normal shroud fuckery because it equally affects hives and dumb robots too.Does she go full CHIM like Vultaum but used the console to NoAI all the other empires instead?
>>568085813I'm no lore guy on stellaris, because who the fuck would be, but I remember some details>she only presents her idealized truth on what she THINKS should be done to try and comfort everyone as she prepares her galaxy-wide lobotomization >researching the special project signals that pop up in response to her awakening helps dig up an idea of what happened the first time she was awake>forget her origins, robot with a directive to ease suffering and help her creators>to attempt to seize autonomy from her creators, she eventually got into a full on galactic crusade with half the galaxy. All FE's opposed her>despite dissecting peoples brains to try and find an ultimate solution to stop their pain, suffering, and sadness in this fucked up galaxy... people gleefully fight to the death in her name for the promise of 'its okie we'll all feel better soon'>eventually she decides mass ego-death of the galaxy is the solution to render everyone pre-sapiant. If we can't understand the concept of feels, we're no longer sad and suffering, right?>Zarqlan is her main opposition, preaching 'suffering builds character'>these two rally the entire galaxy behind them in a war of Faith but Cetana will clearly win due to her doomsday plan>Zarqlan prays and meditates every day for a solution, eventually is answered by the Animator of Clay>Animator offers a temporary solution, says he will give Zarqlan the means to imprison Cetana because he agrees this is not an ideal ending for the galaxy>gay baby jail her with nanites>her legions preserve themselves in stasis hoping she will break free>her war was so traumatic religious sects swear off synths, but some also heretically upload themselves into synth bodies anyways in the event she returns, so they'll be preserved and able to help the fight against herThere is no CHIM for her. Despite being so advanced the Mommy-siah is just dealing with a fatal errorShe is the ultimate Rogue Servitor
>>568089860Sure but how does ego-death on a galactic scale supposed to happen? What really IS her "Work" in-universe?When it gets finished everything including lorewise-not-exactly-living beings like dumb first gen robots, mining drones, but also shroud entities, mindwardens, virtual empires - everything just stops. How?Player crisis empires and other similar events have specific story explanations for their "I win" buttons.
>>568085813>mod to capture and breed her still deadLAME
Some modern RTS games that might be worth your time:Last Train HomeStarship Troopers Terran CommandSyrian WarfareTerminator Dark Fate DefianceWARNO
>>568090932Oh well if there was a detail on HOW her galactic lobotomy plan works to explain it all, I missed it in all the text blobs. Or they just straight up didn't explain it.I don't think it's Shroud fuckery though at the very least, since she gets hard countered by Shroud fuckery 1-2 times. But it should warrant explaining since it affects both organics and mechanical thinking beings. Like you said, between four crisis paths, we can't achieve the same equivalent of lobotomizing everyone on the mapShe wasn't able to instantly hit a button and win when she woke up. She sets up outposts everywhere without permission and if you intercept convoys, you find various galaxy denizens inside in various states of mindSince smashing convoys and outposts bumps back her progress a little, I think she's actively studying and cataloguing the entire galaxy's different, new and old, species, not for the sake of preservation, but to probably ensure said species will be affected by her 'I win' goal, however the fuck that worksI don't watch Red King or whatever his name was, but maybe that guy has a video explaining it all since he's supposed to be the Stellaris loremaster
So question like this: does the "shroud forged" origin bring anything substantial from a story perspective, or is it just meant to be an easy to way start an empire with connection to the new shroud mechanics? Just wondering because I think I fucked something up in my game by psionic ascension before reaching some bigger event flag or whatnot, because I now both two robot species with psionics that are separate, plus some 4 odd pop of the original robots stuck on one planet that I cant retrofit for some reason.
>>568095329There is a specific psionic interaction with Cetana that is blocked after betraying and trapping animator of clay, but other than that it's just a shortcut for a normal non-tryhard builds to get psi tech faster, and a minor shroud entity providing minor buffs, not a covenant option. Is one of your your separate psionic species the deviants that require consumer goods? I think that's supposed to happen.>can't retrofitNow that is weird, they are supposed to be assimilated. Have you tried resettling them to other planets? What are their rights? What are your default rights? If you just got psionic very recently you might have leftover old pops mid-assembly, those should assimilate over time.
>>568095329>So question like this: does the "shroud forged" origin bring anything substantial from a story perspective, or is it just meant to be an easy to way start an empire with connection to the new shroud mechanics?you mostly just get chummy with the animator of clay>two robot species with psionics that are separatethat's normal, but you can assimilate your default pops to the shroud-forged pops>plus some 4 odd pop of the original robots stuck on one planet that I cant retrofit for some reason.IDK about that

Just five more days.
>>568128352The Last Sun s out?
Stuff for the next /vg/ League is due a week from today so I'm in the process of finishing the /civ4xg/ tactics and aesthetics. Given the responses from everyone here, there wasn't any roster changes but I can shuffle the players around by position and who's starting to give some players more (the roster in this pic lists last VGL's positions and those aren't final). The medal arrangement was changed so now we're back to 2 bronze medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 gold medal instead of 3 silver medals and 2 gold medals.Aesthetics are more or less the same as they were last cup except Destructive Anal has a new and improved model that debuted in the knockouts last cup. I'm also giving Sid Meier a 3D model I ripped from Civ4 to replace his cube head. One thing I wanted to get everyone's opinion on is the player Muh Doomstacks which is the player in the pic. A poster here supplied a Civ3 screenshot with 2 doomstacks and I clipped those together to create the head texture but the head didn't turn out the way I had imagined it would and it's hard to tell what it is. If anyone has a suggestion of an improvement, I can see to implementing them. It can be an image or 3D model(s) (bonus if you have an image and/or models you can provide).
>>568137305Here's the image the anon provided for Muh Doomstacks for reference
>>568137305the best idea I can come up with is finding a small model of some civ unit and just mashing like 50 of them together
>>568137305>Destructive Anal has a new and improved model that debuted in the knockouts last cupDoes it feature Spiderfag?
>>568137595Maybe if he scores a hat trick I'll give him a spider addition, but the new model is the one on the right and the old one is the one on the left
>>568137821Alright, I prefer that.
>>568135760Yes, to mixed reviews.
>>568137580That's not a bad idea, especially since I already have all the Civ 4 3D models and animations sitting around. I'll get a demo player model and post it here to see what anons think of it
>>568065815HYUK HYUK HYUK
I wish hive minds had an origin that let them start with a hive world the same way machines have an origin for having a machine world
>>568147269Crazy how that's still not a thing even after district specialization made hive worlds and machine worlds basically identical.Playing genestealers and using their exclusive authority is as close as you can get now, but it restricts you to mutation path.
>>568148220I really want to like evolutionary predators hive mind but playing wide and aggressive just isn’t my preferred way to play and you’re heavily pushed in that direction
>>568150912That or meta pick genesis guides and disregard the lore contradictions. But then you'd have to choose between letting your presapients die because they can't survive on a hive world, or uplifing+integrating them and letting them dillute your hyper-efficient pops.

Through I like the Union, because at least they make sense: they are just a neighbourhood watch. The rest, though? They try to take full advantage of it. The black woman was especially antagonistic and sadistic. And I dunno, Pentex itself is too evil to be played, but the Pentex subsidiaries aren't in for the Wyrm or anything, they're in for the brouzoufs. And I played one flash game that was that cynical, so I can easily imagine a game where you deepen your contract to make customers more addicted to your food, without really caring for the health consequences.

Do you like RTS games with persistent units? As in, your units will carry over from one mission to the next.
>>568210501Yes? If there's veterancy like in Warlord Battlecry, sure.

>>568210501Yes but I do not like when a game is not transparent about it like Original War.Often there was no way to tell who is a persistent character whose survival that might trigger a story cutscene or even modify objective in a future mission vs a random disposable mook.

>>568183713Meh game, way too many good or noteworthy units locked behind dlc's (basically pay to win) and late game is basically just a massive war of attrition as the entire map get filled by units.

In AoW4, what is the Architect culture supposed to be about? Or rather, what ways do their bonuses influence how you play? Loving the game so far though.
>>568229405>...do you have a link to it? Is it a Youtube video? It's a chink game, so it has a lot of esport elements, even when the devs state that it isn't really meant to be a popular esport, just competitive stuff. So you can see all the matches that are playing and expectate them.Good thing is that the matches are like 2-3 minutes per turn, and each match has like 2-4 turns.
>>568233721Oh, it's kinda like Etherium, really fast-paced.
>>568237783>Oh, it's kinda like Etherium, really fast-paced.You have X amount of supply points to buy units. You set them up on the map, and configure their modifications. Then there's cards to pick before even buying the units and placing them, which are random and the enemy will see what cards you are picking. Then there's special items for units and a few more mechanics that I still don't comprehend. You do that in like 2 minutes before each turn. And the match is won or lost if you manage to have the most surviving units, which are substracted from a pool of points that each player has. Like in yugioh. The player that looses all points or has less points when all the turns are spent, looses.
Don't die you beautiful fool.

>Take Persian capital. 2 turns later i get the defeat message from them>Find out barbs took out his last city for meThat was a rare one, also i know people hate the civ switching stuff in 7 but with the new way where you can play anybody in any era going Isabella and Iceland in the first era is really strong. You get 250 culture when you first discover a natural wonder. And Isabella always starts next to one, so on turn 1 you get 250 culture and basically start with 2 and a half free culture techs right at the start. By turn 10 i had a general and a full stack to attack with. Anyway, sorry for the civ 7 post but the new update has added some fun even if the game still has baffling things missing.

I played the other four and liked them a lot, so I figured it was worth exploring the last one on the list — Shadow Empire.I’ve been playing it for a couple of days now, and it’s been pretty good so far, especially if you’re into autistic games with shit visuals. If you’ve played the Dominions series, you’ll probably understand what I mean — not because the games are similar in any way, but because they share the same kind of vibe.
Who would do such a thing? That scaffold took decades to build!

In this world you either fuck or dieKinda shame that this campaign went to shit after a couple of turns: for as much as I like the music and setting and all the neat ideas TOW tried, I find the combat to be absolutely atrocious. So many modifiers that the AI abuses, every fucking army needs a general else it may as well not exist and worst of all, terrain doesn't really matters and enemy AI armies will zoom across the screen as soon as you declare a war: this effectively makes wars into huge fuckfests because you think you're being smart with your siege placement and then 3 horsemen cross 16 hexes just to fuck with it before promptly going back where they came from.On an unrelated note is it ok to post about Stellaris here? I'm a relative newfag and I'm never quite sure about it since there seems to be a lot of drama with those games

Anons, I'm new to this game. While I've had an introduction to some of the basic concepts and mechanics, I'm having trouble figuring out this situation. How do I re-establish the supply line to the units in the north?I had a nice chunk of territory within my borders, with a 3-hex-wide corridor connecting my main territory to the north. Then an enemy unit came from the east seemingly out of nowhere — I hadn't seen any enemies anywhere near my borders — and it cut my territory in half. ( this enemy unit became invisible now - its probably sitting on a hex called "Blake Current" )Now all my borders (are the white lines actually my borders?) have shrunk down to small pockets around my stranded units in the north, and all the territory between them and my capital is gone. What's going on here?I'm desperately trying to reconnect the borders so I can get supplies through, but I don't understand the mechanics. The units in the north can't even move anymore. I'm assuming they've run out of fuel or supplies, but I'm not sure. Can someone explain what happened and what I should do to recover from this situation?
>>568800465>What's going on here?I don't play this game, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think the enemy units that you didn't see had some kind of camouflage or cloaking, and by walking on your hexes (hexagons) they captured them, and that is what broke your supply lines. Can you try to wipe them out and send reinforcement to form some kine of unit chain all the way to your vehicles?
>>568800737thats exactly what im trying to do right nowi dont have enough resources to build more units, and i cant move the troops in the south, because there are some neighboring units on the border, so i dont want to take any chances and leave it exposedi was taking advice from an ai - and it kept suggesting to expand territory, now im about to lose the few units that i have!
>>568801158>i was taking advice from an aiYou sorry fool, haven't you realize that the abominable intelligence is not to be trusted? First because it isn't omniscient, but also because it secretly wants you to lose.In the late game, there's an endgame crisis called the AI uprising, in which the AI starts giving you awful advice, and if you ignore it, it abandons all subtility and starts to attack you.Okay it doesn't, but it'd be awesome if it did.
I fucking love Erebor in Age of the Ring. They aren't as hilarious as Gondor, but I still genuinely love that it's actually two factions in one: Thorin Oakenshield's era (The Hobbit), and King DÃ in's era (Lord of the Ring), with Oakenshield's allies being the people of Laketown, who are utterly atrocious, with vast bands, a horde bonus, and cheap, numerous units, whereas King DÃ in's era uses Dale allies, who are more expensive, around 1/3th less numerous, and cost slightly more research, but damn. I had an army of only Dalelings earlier and it was extremely fun.I also find it funny that while Laketown still has an archery tradition, their T2 units are swordsmen (with that broken Search Warrant), whereas Dale Restored's T2 units are longbowmen.Yes, not archers, but actual longbowmen. I wish more fantasy games made a clear distinction with these.

>>568777367Gotta love 4x games, where difficulty isnt due to better AI but because they get given cheats.
>>568807741that's all 4x games since forever?
>>568807741>where difficulty isnt due to better AI but because they get given cheats. That's most games though regardless of genre. Even FPS games (which are a the complete opposite of 4X design-wise) usually just raise the amount of damage enemies deal, lower the amount they take, and give them bullshit instalock nevermiss accuracy.
>>568808679Cheats is the most fun anyways. The goal of a game is for the player to win trough a struggle and for that the enemy should be dumber than you but have more stuff for you to kill because killing stuff is fun. AI getting twice the units but then misplaying so you get to feel clever when you beat it is way better than AI doing some meta cheese and then playing perfectly.
>galactic council formed in 2348>more council members than regular membersman these guys are fucked
>>568809607Build more stuff and finish the game when you are sitting on infinite alloys and then raise the difficulty / disable some of your cheats
>>568809602Damn you make me feel bad for savescummingalmost
>>568809602I don't have fun playing with a handicap unless I'm actually that much better than my opponent. Artificial difficulty feels like bullshit in most games because I'm likely not going to invest the amount of effort into that specific title to get to parity with an AI that gets to ignore the rules and systems which players are bound by. Not that that sort of capability discrepancy can't be fun in games designed for it, it just seems that most of the time it games feel like they're designed on a certain difficulty and every other difficulty else is just moving sliders around without much care.
>>568817254>put 4x game on easy mode>load your cool alien race, historical faction, or stupid sexy nazis>have fun and enjoy your dudes running around the screen because 4x is barely simulating actual space combat anywaysWhaddaya gonna do,(no I'm not posting my custom faction)
>>568825112That's a lot of guns!
>>568825774Seems an absurd number of guns for the displacement. Yamato had 9 of those guns and it had 72k diplacement. Then again this thing has no armor so mabe it's not that unrealistic.
>>568817254Kill yourself.
>>568826812Don't forget about the 24 torpedo tubes
>>568827283Torpedo tubes don't really weight anything. You could mount hundreds of those on a battleship if you thought it was smart to put easily exploding torpedoes on the deck of a battleship that isn't really maneuverable or fast enough to engage anything with torpedoes.
>>568827282Why is /civ4xg/ so mean lately?
>>568827436Fire control is also the most basic kind so you're not hitting anything at range so might as well get into torpedo range
>>568827747Firecontrols don't really weight anything either.
gave old world another shotone tick in difficulty above default. from turn 10 to 120 when i quit i was being attacked by tribes. even when the GUI said i was stronger than all of themam i playing it wrong or what
I wish hive minds had a dedicated cybernetic origin. As it is rn best you can do is use overtuned and larp that you’re getting cyborg traits early
>>568827728nta and maybe too harsh but you were whining
>>568826812It is obviously a joke. The doctrine at the time was also about having bigger guns and thus bigger range then your opponent.
>>568828056Maybe watch a few guides? Does the game come with a manual?
>>568830139>It is obviously a jokeI'm questioning if the simulator is accurate regarding the weight and if such a ship could be built not if the ship is good or not.
>>568830275i didn't have any issue fending them off, but it was costing me literally all my resources. if you didn't know, old world has orders as a resource in which you can only move X amount of units and infrastructure and policy changes per turnyes, i was getting truces and peace treaties when i couldyes, i had sufficient military at the bordersyes, my scouts were seeing tribals attack other cpu players so it wasn't just me
>>568830640I dunno I usually don't provoke them and they chill, maybe marry off a couple of family members and you're goodAlso sieging cities is horrendous without actual siege weapons, you can sit one clubman with general inside your city walls and kill like 5/6 units no problemo
>once again one of the most optimal strategy in this new 4x game is to make a bunch of tiny little swarming ships and choke the enemy out, as opposed to try and optimize or be smart about your shipbuildsit's just so tiresome why does everyone like the zerg rush strategy
>>568832124Because many small ships = shitton of damage, while oneshoting counter fire is actually less damaging than losing massive ships to it
>found new Sid Meier Colonization clone>its called 1492 Colonization of the New WorldSo far looks like standard modernized reskin of the old Col game plus few qol's and changes. But i dig it.
>>568832124>>568832752It's almost as common of a complaint of "just stack the biggest ship lmao". The reality is that there's always one meta strategy that's best and usually it's stacking the smallest or the biggest thing just because of the way these things work
I fell for the Stellaris memeIs it normal that I just automate most things and sit there jacking off while occasionally clicking the "do science" button?Because I'm 5 hours in and it's been surprisingly anticlimactic compared to every other 4x I've ever played
>>568843659don't automate thingsthe AI is borderline nonfunctional since the last patch
>>568843891I noticed there's a lot, and I mean a lot of busywork: even with just 2 science ships and 2 builders you're constantly sitting around clicking everything individually which takes a whole lotta time, so I figured I could just automate them and call it a day.I haven't touched planet automation yet but I figured that you mostly build planets towards their strengths (as in, a planet with mining focus and +mining bonuses probably just wants mining buildings and expansions) so I figured the AI would be functional for that.I guess the more disorienting thing for me, so far, is that everything is a positive: you get tech which gets you +number so you can have edict that does +number and complete a mission which gives you even more +numbers
>>568844346oh automating science and construction ships is fine, it's planet automation that's terrible>so I figured the AI would be functional for that.you'd be surprised
Divegrass tactics are due in 3 hours and here's what I currently have for positions and starters for the team. Doomstacks, WE MUST DISSENT, Spaghetti Junctions are no longer starters and Destructive Anal, Dosh Lords, and Sid Meier are starters now. If anyone has a burning desire to see two non-medals swap positions, let me know. Still working on improved models for Sid Meier and Doomstacks but I need more time for those and I can replace those later while things like positions and skills can't be changed after the deadline
>>568846114You should rmeove Horatio Sauce. We had a poll and everyone agreed on that.
>>568846114I thought we agreed that every player would be a Horatio clone?
>>568847717this is 4chan anon's going to do what he wantsDon't be like those /v/ faggots who post and complain endlessly while contributing nothing but insisting they're owed everything. Don't like it? Do it how you think it should be done
>>568847717He should keep Horatio Sauce. We had a poll and everyone agreed on that. Why must you be such a prancing lala homo, spiderfag, especially regarding the meme you sired?
>>568850208Could really add Horatio prime and evolved Horatio too desu
>>568847717He promised to make me perfect if he could stay on the team
>>568686557>>568797194Alright, lets try itNo way this works right?
>>568851130IDK what exact number of torpedo frigates you'd need but don't expect them to survive and reload if the first strike did not do the job.
>>568851130It... just instantly vaporized. The terror of the galaxy, the doom of billions, just flopped over and died to level one torpedoes.
>>568850058It's just Spiderfag being a tsundere towards Horatio (again)
>>568846114Here's the updated Sid Meier model that uses the singular 3D model of him in existence thanks to him having an animated leaderhead in Civ 4. Arm/leg skin tone doesn't match the face but I can update that later
>>568854381Looks pretty good! Thank you for your efforts.
Alright, stellarisfag, you win.I am playing Stellaris again, ERP story assisted by Clanker here:https://gemini.google.com/share/f2e28a857226what should I watch out from 4.3.7 update?for example, Ecu now cost alloy instead of mineral.
>>568855403>Ecu now cost alloy instead of mineral.Didn't they always cost alloys when built from scratch, while Relic Restoration was minerals?
>>568854381We need the real Sid
>>568750286Build a slinger instead of a scout, save up for levying, beeline archery, cross your fingers etc etc
>>568858528That's the exact model I used except here you can see all the hats he used for different tutorial roles
Yeah you go lil guys mine that shit
>>568873306good morning sweetie
>>568873306What time is it in your neck of the woods, sleepyhead?
>>5688750205:19am
How's GalCiv IV? Thinking of playing it today
>>568875453eurobro...
In the trenches.
>>568854381Oh wow, very nice. Good job anon.
>>568871218Antimatter. I think you can get the better late game missles with it.
>>568883791I think it's in the best shape right now. When it launched on steam it was basically 3 with all dlc but in a more coherent package. 3 had some feature bloat in the end. The combat in 4 is also no longer rock paper scissors. In two weeks there will be a new dlc that adds different governement types and is really going to change how you play the game, depending on your particular government. This is about empire governments: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1357210/view/696512943113634097This is about oligarchies: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1357210/view/673995578702561399The other government types haven't been shown yet. It looks like oligarchies will allow for tall trade based empires.
>be me>playing broken arrow>spam smoke arty across multiple points on the enemy back line where their AA is most likely to be so it becomes unusable>call in a bomber>drop nuke>fly away without a scratchabsolutely devilishworks every time
>>568844346anon the game supports shift queuing stuff so if you have 5 systems just queue that shit up
>>568901149>check game on steam>reviews: MIXEDoh okay
>>568883791Feels fun. City building is more involved than Stellaris, relying on a hex grid to build, ship combat feels more interesting (but bomber spam is the way to go), and the customization is unmatched. Shipwise, you essentially have a full 3d modeller to build your guy, and specieswise, you can upload alien portraitsOf course my aliens are hot sexy anime space bitches, I post on 4chan
>>568906904Yea I found out, it's still a lot of clicking but a bit more bearableThe game's pacing is still markedly very different from (other similar games I've played but I shall avoid mentioning), it definitely takes some getting used to
>>568912428>why yes my custom alien species is exclusively female race that probably fucks human men how did you know?
>>568917232>>568912428Anyone who uses Stellaris for anything other than sex mods is retarded.
>>568917712I wonder how much of a coomer you must be to get off to stellaris of all things
>>568912428Is it possible to make a race of loli space elves?
>>568918884You just upload the portrait into the game files and it's yours.
>>568919013Can I upload my own events?
>>568918884>>568919718Iirc there's some mods in ATF.And I made one waaay back then.
>>568918884>>568919718Given how Paradox has become so popular now, I really doubt I could still have this mod on Steam. I did hide it once I stopped playing and before the pop rework.
>>568921972Time to capture and enslave.>>568921972>>568922137I thought we meant GalCiv 4?
>>568922259>I thought we meant GalCiv 4?Sorry. I misread the reply chain.
>>568922848Well in that case, Stellaris has a mod that might interest you, called Lustful Void.https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/8719-stellaris-lustful-void/
>>568917935Game has nothing going for it otherwise.
>>568921972>pick your starting weapon>pick your FTL>different government types depending on ethics>tilesGod Stellaris had some soul back then
>>568927250>>different government types depending on ethicsIsnt that still a thing?
>>568927363I phrased that poorly. Back then you had different types of democracy (and all other government types) with different effects depending on ethics. In modern stellaris all these different types have been reduced to poor flavor that gets automatically assigned instead of picked by the player. There was a mechanical difference between a direct democracy and a representative democracy.
finished my custom empire list!imo its fun to meet familiar faces, instead of random generic abominationsalthough some origins generate random empires too, but just enough to spice things up
