Actual waifu gacha games try to make one feel like they have some sort of parasocial relation with them by giving people free stuff before stopping, having characters suck one off and talk about how amazing (You), giving you names like Master and such. You see people post in-game animations of girls and going "Look, you can go to the beach with her! You can marry her and take her hand!" and that's because gachas can get to the point of straight up sycophancy to feed people's dopamine, to in turn get one to spend money and give them the feeling that they have to. Yu-Gi-Oh as a card game is too gameplay focused so you can't really do that. The most Konami has done as the MD mates which aren't even shallow gacha characters tie,r but just accessories with few animations and The Chronicles which are short videos where nothing happens and just have super basic plots, so for the most part in Yu-Gi-Oh you just get a picture of an anime boy/girl and what little character they have is hidden in some book with small tibits.
