A dozen of /twg/'s Star Wars posters remained.
They were the only survivors of the Total War: 40K announcement trailer and they had gathered in the beginning of the new thread. Jedifags, Sithniggers and even a few lost looking Ahsoka simps. An image of the Blood Angels pre-order bonus slammed into the thread, finally blasting what little remained of its Leiaposts into piles of ashes and dead dreams. The Star Wars posters did not throw themselves into cover, or run for shelter. There was little point. The 40Kfags were taking over /twg/, and they were thorough. They would not let Vader be posted again. Walls of mocking posts bloomed all across the thread, closing in on them with smug inevitability. The battle for /twg/, was over...

This only ever happened on Geonosis. Hoth was trench warfare and most of the other battles were squad based or insurgency style warfare.

Then you can add "1/3 of the battle of Naboo" to Geonosis, doesn't dramatically change my point. Sure Star Wars has huge line battles very occasionally but it has enough styles of warfare that just doing line warfare would be equally as disappointing as 40k. More than any other setting leaving out space battles would also be completely unacceptable for a TW Star Wars.

Agreed, but this was because Unaligned "corruption" was very difficult to spread, so it was an offense/defense imbalance. In 3, it is harder to spread, which is just tipping the balance towards Unaligned. Also, corruption fades far more quickly.

I think you do it by completely recontextualizing the base 'religion' mechanic, which was always a "the religion of your empire vs hostile relgions". Historical religion was always more complex than that, even if you did have state religions or approved religions vs heresies or unapproved religions.

Like in 40k, how I'd do it is that low levels of corruption "can be good". And what I mean by that is that the initial stage of corruption can provide bonuses, like for example low level Tzeentch corruption might increase research slightly - as much as a library building. And low level Ork corruption might provide Ork mercenaries. Corruption doesn't build as a %, but rather builds as a shadow settlement (think Skaven, but under AI control) that grows more and more hostile as it grows more powerful.

And for historical games, I'd have religion/culture work similarly. Each religion has a "in the minority" mode where it will provide some bonus or malus to the host empire. Like Germanic Paganism might provide some extra warriors but cause more heresy agents (the witches from Med 2, but in a new skin) to spawn; while Judaism gets Jewish quarters that can have different effects but have a malus as well (let's say the malus is public order).

Your and all NPC armies walk around planets in those 360 degrees and there can be up to 10 independent planets like this in a system. And only then those are connected with those lanes. So both player and AI has to keep track of those multiple full globe planets and travel between them. This is absolutely and utterly insane for TW.

Consider re-adding those Tiger variant units to Bhashiva's faction. Many of them are still present in the files and would give Bhashiva's faction some more choice for Tiger-exclusive armies
Change the 10 turn missions where you must be at war with Zhao Ming's enemies to 5 turn missions
Grant Bhashiva's 2 items a set bonus if they are both equipped

The DLC is well worth the asking price but there is still room for improvement.

Because the beastman WILL murder it's parents. It's even actually part of the lore that they feel special revulsion for their human parents. You have to consider that this isn't a matter of upbringing or even truly instinct, this is literally a god who gets up one day and goes "How can I make people as miserable as I possibly can?" and makes it happen.

Yes and no.
Naval is extremely annoying and you can be fucked in one turn if your home port gets blockade by a single torpedo boat. However, a lot of things are much easier/more responsive. Like I've always found Warhammer's economy to suffer from a lack of options and you're extremely reliant on free money given to you during battles, while in Shogun you have fun economic buildings. In campaign battles, the terrain matters a lot more because maps are designed to use it. In Warhammer, units often have such huge buffs or health pools that terrain bonuses become irrelevant.

It has probably the strongest anti-player bias in the entire series and the fastest, highest-lethality combat. Your roster being almost identical to what you're fighting means you can only outplay the AI in the most basic ways, you can't just wind of death their entire army because they forced it into a 20x20 foot area or shred half of their front line with your ultra elite lawnmowers.
Basic elite melee infantry is killing an entire unit of opposing elite melee infantry in less than a minute before they even gets any tech or building or veterancy buffs. Archer volleys will absolutely shred units and they're even more accurate than in TWWH.

in order to get full value out of Unbreakable you basically need to let a unit get wiped out which is usually something you're trying to avoid in single-player since replenishment exists.

in fact I'd even argue that routing is a situational power-up in Warhammer since routing units seem to push through blobs to retreat much more quickly than they do when given a move command.

Nids in general have been left to rot as a faction in favor of Chaos, and ironically in favor of the Necrons too.
The problem is that Nids don't have characters, and can't unless you want a Newcrons situation again. The only character is the Hive Mind, and It is explicitly evil and treats everything influenced by It as a disposable puppet. Which, to be fair, is very Tyranid, but also makes developing and progressing a faction difficult. Even the differences between Hive Fleets are just the Hive Mind experimenting and occasionally seeing which Hive Fleet comes out on top.

I think a solution may be to explore the origins of the Hive Fleet. I personally have the suspicion they're an early Old One weapon, maybe even one that wasn't officially put into service but instead left in stasis in the Old One's lab (somewhere outside the galaxy, probably) until it escaped, fucked around for a bit to leave behind feral Nids on places like Catachan, and then were kicked out by the Eldar or something. This redefines the Nids are not an outside unknown but rather a sibling of the Eldar and the Orks as well as a technical rival to the Necrons.
Right now, the lore seems to indicate the Nids have no story or backstory other than "eats planets". That is their MO, but there's nothing to build on from that. No higher purpose, no objective, no connection with anyone or anything. Irrelevant space locust that is pushed aside eventually in favor of Chaos.

The Southlands is hugely underrepresented, but it's by far the most irrelevant place in the setting so whatever. They should probably just cut the entirety of the Southern Wastes while we we're at it.

To me there really isn't desu. All the classic historical TWs had under 200 settlements. Anything above that just blurs together to me at some point. 550 is enough that I'll stop at 200 or so and call it in the same way that 1300 is enough that I'll stop at 200 and call it.

It's more that the Empire is a really good play space in Immortal Empires. Cathay isn't bad either. It can take a while to conquer without feeling overwhelming, it's still short enough to go out a fight whatever blobs have formed else where.
But most of the other areas are getting the short end of the stick. Takes no time at all to conquer what are suppose to be vast stretches of land, and LL bloat has led to them losing most of their identity as regions. I don't see the Old World mod really fixing this since it bloats out areas that are fine (Empire/Bretonnia) and doesn't touch the new world, and 1300 is going to be too many provinces regardless.
