after playing destiny 2 for nearly 30 hours since the update it got me in a really introspective mood bros. as a science fantasy experience d2 is pretty good but it always leaves within me a longing for the stars that will realistically never be realized in my lifetime, nor probably any individual human's lifetime for that matter. it also got me thinking about why so often we tend to ruin things that we enjoy, often without ever even meaning to do so, especially as it pertains to game design specifically. (i feel like that specific atom of human design is highly susceptible to whatever psychological problems lead to the eventual dogshitification of whatever we're it is we're making). im guessing its probably because video games dont matter so the stakes (and consequences) of making an ass game mean that we can just throw shit at the wall and see what sticks or something. maybe game design is secretly necessary for us to evolve. the power and capability of our abilities and arsenal has ebbed and flowed constantly over the 7 years of destiny 2's lifespan and i just feel like we get tired of being weak or strong no matter what the context of the game is. what we desire is in fact, way i see it, cyclicity, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the moment-to-moment experientiality of going thru strikes, gambit or desert perpetuali really hope that society perseveres for a few thousand millennia to come. there's only a few thousand years of resources at our current rates of consumption though, unfortunately. some things especially are very finite. agriculture, for example, to my understanding, an inherently unsustainable practice on the scales needed for it to persist us. when it was just us in our fertile crescent days, and maybe for a little while after, it was totally alright, fine, and perhaps even dandy. sometimes i wonder why we have such a proclivity towards collecting myriad self-destructive inveteracies. it seems counterproductive to our biological imperative

The farm, getting a new tower and seeing the last city get repaired with all the cranes and the traveler being awake. There was a sense of hope…for the future. After the planned out stuff (Forsaken) it all went to shit. The plots from Shadowkeep onward were abysmal and the world felt dead. They gave up on more and more stuff, rip factions. And I know a ton of people hate Verity but I love that encounter, one of the few ones in both games that makes you actually use your brain.Vow's intro also sucks ass, but every single other encounter in the raid is fun, and the boss fight is awesome. Same with Last Wish. Like most people seem to have run Last Wish way after it came out and was easy as fuck by then with the cheese. Running it legit at Light Level was hard as fuck, the Vow of it's time.
