The issue is riot has no role protection, and they treat every position in soloqueue as the same rank. So you can queue as any of the early game roles, and play a scaling-do-nothing-early-champion. Or you can pick a position that is weak early game and also pick a-strong-early/mid-game-champion. Which just inflates the high-end of the ladder with people consistently playing either a position that is strong early-game, a strong early-game champ, or a combination of the two.

Especially in soloq your output is so gimped that it hurts too much to buy it before 3rd item, and no games masters+ have enchanters reaching that many items.
