What are these low clouds? Never seen that before.
>>570938543As I have no explanation for them, I'm going to say it's aliens.
>>570938543Pollution from real data that the engine thinks are clouds
"A light drizzle !" he shouted, as he struggled to keep control of the helicopter with the 20kts wind blowing hell all around him."Yeees, suuure, a fucking light drizzle" he clenched his teeth as the oil rig kept disappearing in the downpour. He checked the ADF for the hundred time to find it back in this whole hell. His small puny machine was being tossed around like a kite in the storm. He somehow managed to keep its hopeless dance under control to bring it down on the pad, as the gusts of wind were trying to force it straight into the superstructure."Yeah, of course, that's just a simple fucking light drizzle."
>>570940643Fucking kek
Why is it always a nightmare trying to spot the windsock at airfields?
>>570938543we have them where i live, is high humidity + high temperature + high winds + mountainous zones + river nearby phenomena. We call them "Lost Clouds"
>>570938543nvm your screenshot looks flat. So is not a mountainous zone exclusive thing, weird
>>570942508Fucks sake I zoomed in and saw it. I wonder if you can map a button to zoom in, it's awkward scrolling the mouse as I'm flying around>>570942562They are above woodland so maybe it's just humidity, I've never seen them in the game before though.
>>570942891get a used VR set, everything looks way better for VFR approaches
>>570942891Fucking hell that was nearly a disaster, I suddenly realised how narrow the runway was and nearly landed on the grass next to it. This is the airfield in Anchorage I posted an image of the other day where people park planes in their front garden, I'm not sure what it'll be like in MSFS.>>570943231I use trackir, I like looking at other monitors for littlenavmap and other things. VR looks fun but a bit restrictive for that. I've mapped a zoom button to my throttle now which works okay.
Raceist post incoming - Linux edishJob is eating me alive, so got drunk and did 20 minutes at Barcelona in ACC in heavy rain. It's all about the setup really, but let's go over some basic shit first.>run Goverlay to run optiscaler bleeding edge shit to spoof DLSS using FSR 4.1 if you're on AMD card and set DLSS in the game to highest quality etc>now ACC actually looks crisp>in Oversteer turn off any FFB stuff that isn't gain, set gain to Wind equivelant for your wheel>in game set FFB gain to 85, dynamic dampinc to 100 and everything else to zeroCar setup menu is mandatory.I used to do setups back in GTR2 days, but with modern sims I kinda stopped and then saw Austin's vids and went back at it with a new mindset. Get this in your head:>default setups are shit and why you struggle>any game that has an "aggressive preset" setup sets you up to fail, if you use it>paid setups are a scam>you want low spring rates>as low as you can use without scraping the ground>higher where the engine is>remove bump stops unless you do F1 or Hypercars (do research on this)>dampers are for controlling pitch and yaw, you want them low on bump and slightly higher on rebound>they generally slow down spring movement, just imagine the car braking heavily or going over curbs>slow is for brake and acceleration, fast is for curbs and potholes>diff settings is crucial - go aroung 55-65 preload on front-engine cars, 75-100 for mid/rear-engine shit>Porsche needs 90-100Nm of diff preload in any sim (lift-off over-steer thing)>camber max front, slightly less rear>toe front -0,15 rear about +0,2>TC and ABS lowest you can get away with comfortably>tyre presh- adjust accordinglyI used my base dry setup here, just changed tyres to we and set pressures to optimal right of the gate - easy driving.
>>570943897As expected, the game hasn't done a great job. It thinks because it's an airfield all the buildings are hangars rather than houses.
>>570943979What's the ACC community like? Full of tryhards or nice people?
>>570942508You're supposed to get the wind direction over the radio, windsocks are more for when you're preparing to take off. Of course, it doesn't help that it's either white or orange, since those are the colors of a lot of things around an airport, so I think windsocks should be pink. A pinksock at every airport!
>>570945093I assumed that if it's an unmanned airport you'd overfly to check, but I suppose you'd probably just look at a weather forecast.
Two more weeks until the A220 is released.
>>570949913Does the M-346 have any sort of autopilot? Heading or altitude hold?
>>570944348Not sure, if you were on LFM before Le Mans Ultimate hype, it was tryhard AF, now probably less, but for online, as any game it's best to play in private servers. Best experience though - get some friends on a discord voice chat and play Automobilista 2. Setups-wise same things apply and for best FFB use DanielKart's custom files - they have setting for pretty much all wheels in the file itself. Works on Win, work on Nix. I usually hype that up in these general, but decided to try something different now. Anyway, if you don't want to deal with the online cringe bullshit, AMS2 has pretty much the best SP experience out there too.
>>570950001Yes, a few vertical and horizontal modes like those plus stuff like following flight plans, steerpoints, ILS etc. I don't know if the newer version has something more.
>>570950132>>570943979Ah shit forgot the ARB setting.>the idea is to control the oversteer and understeer with your throttle>going wide - lift>going too tight - push some more>with a loose suspension you want to counter the effects with the anti-roll bars>low spring settings on the front == high ARB on the front>as baseline, front to rear ARB ratio keep 5:1>understeer too much on throttle?>increace the rear ARB>oversteer too much on lift?>increase front ARBGenerally...>start with springs to get the car soft but not bottoming out>use dampers to tame the suspension movement so the front gets low when braking and rear doesn't jump on throttle>make sure fast bumps and rebound keep the car stable when going over bumps and curbs>diff setting is your tracktion control>after you're done with those, use ARBs to control oversteer>too understeery on braking/coasting?>decrease the front>not enough/too much angle on when slamming donw on the gas?>adjust the rear
Took a gamble on this since I'm firmly a flight/ space sim guy but I'm starting to get the hang of this. Using RCS thrusters for traction control feels pretty big brain.

>>571033868Have you made the Martini one yet?
>>571033915Nah, I gave it a try but making the various sponsors match up in between files was too much of an headache.
>>571033915I'll give it another try soon tho.
>>571034253Are these for X Plane or MSFS? Or does it not matter?
>>571034301Xplane only. I haven't tried making one for MSFS since its livery logic is alien to me.
>>571034474I've never done anything with textures, but aren't they just images that wrap around the model?
>>571034527nta but when I tried editing MSFS2024 liveries, I kept running into compatibility errors with the tools that were supposed to be able to convert ktx2 files to png. And then when I finally found a plane the tools were able conert, it turns out you can't just edit one file, you have to edit an "albedo" file and then somehow generate a corresponding "comp" file from that.

>>571047164It was a peaceful landing indeed.
>>571047902How did get into that situation?
>>571048053I took off to do some low-level flying.Problem is that the take-off trim setting on the Starship is strong nose up, and I had forgotten how little feedback pitch trim changes give is on this module. So I over-compensated and went nose down, and as the weather was shit I didn't realize at first I was heading straight into the mountains. I dodged a first one but bumped the larger summit behind, and slid and settled is this peaceful valley.

>>571071221Not much point getting it if it's only 30C for a few days a year. I might get a portable unit in the future.
>>571065242Go for 2024, everybody is moving to it and new release don't support 2020 anymore. Plus there is nothing wrong with it if you plan on doing free flying.Multiplayer is automatic if you turn it on, you see other people around but there is no collision, although there is now wake turbulence so be careful around airliners if you turn it on (be sure to disable assists if you don't want to fly on rails). MSFS UI is shit but you'll get used to it. Performance is much decent.Coming from DCS you're going to find fight model and cockpits of default aircraft much lacking, but there are many third party addons with fully modeled cockpits and systems that also flight well (A2A, Blacksquare, Blackbird, Azurpoly, Flying Iron etc.). There are many GA planes, warbirds, a few very nice jets, a couple spaceplanes, a high-fidelity SR-71, also airliners. No damage model though, DCS still is the top dog for system depth and punishment. Also MSFS has a good turbulence model compared to the inexistant DCS one, so you can play in up/downdrafts and thermals in a pretty realistic fashion, it has dynamic live weather, and having the whole world modeled means you can do some very neat navigation if that's your kink (VFR, VOR, TACAN, ADF, GPS).Have fun.
>>571059302Is that hot or cold?
>>571065242Buy the Aviator edition on Steam, return it before your two hours are up (you'll probably be able to get signed in by then), and then rebuy the Standard edition on Steam like >>571065390 said. You get to keep all your Aviator edition assets, while minimizing your funding of the hindu takeover of Microsoft.
>>571071221Will you pay my bills? Also, I always get sick when I stay in places with ACs.
>>571071945Many devs now are no longer making planes for 2020 as it's too much work and most people have switched.
>>571071945>No damage model thoughDepends what you mean; there's no visuals (aside from a handful of 3rd party planes with propeller damage visuals) but 2024 did add stuff that was made for career mode but is still active in free flight, like flaps stop working if you overspeed them too long, engine dies if you overstress it too long, tires/landing gear take damage from hard landings and can break (stops plane from moving), ailerons and flaps take damage from overspeeding the plane (or running your wing into a building while taxiing)
>>571073334You're right, I've destroyed the control surfaces of Blackbird's Zero several time when pulling too hard at high speed.
>>571073334>there's no visuals (aside from a handful of 3rd party planes with propeller damage visuals)Add doors to the listhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzjvV4jsB4c&t=1400s

>>571075561That's hilarious, I've never seen that in an msfs plane before.
>>571073334>>571071945I've also come from DCS and find MSFS 2024 very refreshing and fun to fly. Also planes from A2A and Black Square has nicely simulated wear and tear model. In case of A2A planes you can have individual parts failures, fuel leaks, damaged brakes and so on if you decide to switch on livery persistence. Similar thing in Black Square planes whre state of the airframe is saved and there are a lot of failures.
>>571075792I believe all planes have a basic wear and tear model in 2024, possibly visual dirt too, but devs like A2A and Black Square take it to another level.
>>571075916>possibly visual dirt too,Oh yeah, some planes do that. dirt, mud, insect splatters, scratches. Some save it between flights and have a "wash plane" button.Although that's one of the things the Black Square guy decided not to do, saying it took too many extra polygons
vgh MSFS 2024 graphics
>>571077069Did you know that washing your car supposedly made a difference in Gran Turismo 4? Even though there was no visual dirt model, it would still build up and slow you down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht--nMzJzbo
>>571077480>Even though there was no visual dirt modelI could have sworn that the shinyness of the paint would fade over time, and then come back when you washed the car. This was also in an era where I thought you could overclock your brain to achieve superhuman mental abilities by smoking weed, so take that with a grain of salt.
>>571078368Yeah possibly, I haven't played it for a few years, maybe it was just shininess rather than actual dirt.
>>571067363Oddly relaxing.
>>571070630I don't like this at all. It looks damn amazing.

>>571089006Leave all the windows open at night, it makes a difference
>>571089154No shit bro, thats what we're doing. But still, its a huge brick house and the walls WILL soak up heat given enough time. 22°c at night doesn't help. >>571113002Oh, the reason we can't have nice things rears it's head again? Did they even ask you to pick to keep one; browns or rental scooters?Because I actually really like those little scooters.
>>571113486>Because I actually really like those little scooters.Me too. Its pretty cheap and let me go almost everywhere without having to deal with public transports and all the "people" using it, or the horror that is driving a car in the city.I guess i'll have to buy one for myself and hope it doesn't get stolen. :^)Btw i play sim games
>>571113893>I guess i'll have to buy one for myself and hope it doesn't get stolen.I though about that too, but half of the appeal is that you can just leave the scooter anywhere, or grab one on a whim. I was literally owning nothing and being happy!
>>571114138"People" were leaving them actually anywhere, and mostly in the middle of sidewalks or worse. So they had to put specific spots to drop them off.So now you have to find one of those specific spots to drop the scooter, in a pile of other scooters those "people" just throw away too. And if there's too many of them at the same spot it doesn't let you drop it, and you have to go somewhere else.So it already lost half of its appeal. I had a chink one i bought on amazon before electric scooters became big, but it was a piece of shit that basically self-disassembled after a couple weeks. Also its almost impossible to change the tires on those pieces of shit. Changing a car tire is unironically 100x easier.

>>571180020Well they've at least now allowed weapons on planes on the marketplace, and some addons for 2024 let you fire guns and missiles, and drop bombs that explode and leave a crater. DCS players won't be interested in civilian planes so that won't happen.
>>571180185DCS has a really good radio nav system and the terrains are perfectly sized for a twin turbo or steam cockpit bizjet. The trainers all feel great to fly, even the Yak. Civilian assets mod adds a lot of stuff you didn't know you were missing, but it would be nice to have some basic civil air traffic settings included in the base game. It's too bad air traffic is equally shit in every sim.

>>571233714>no clickable pitThis is a real killer when every other modern flight sim has it.
>>571235171I don't even see why it would be difficult to add, given all the instruments and controls in the cockpit seem to be animated anyway. IL2 Blitz / Tobruk have it, and it's nice because it means you don't need to remember (or even set up) really specific keybinds
>>571235171It makes life so much easier.
>>571239153>>571239338Even with planes where you can map just about everything to the HOTAS, it's such an immersion enhancer in VR to be able to just fiddle with stuff in the cockpit with the mouse.

>>571265123>fell for propaganda meant for drunken vatniksI feel sorry for you. Kiev was the capital of Kievan Rus', a medieval East Slavic state. While considered the cultural cradle and historic root for Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians, it was not the capital of the modern Russian state, which developed centuries later from the Principality of Moscow. Also, both being slavs means nothing. It would be like saying there is no difference between Ireland, Scotland and the rest of the UK just because you're all anglos.

>>571228516Despite everything I do think simmers are a bit less prone to that because making a aircraft as realistic as possible is time consuming as fuck. Also you need to have all the required official (or closest to it), programming, physics, electronics, modeling, texturing knowledge. The problem is because it's a digital asset you just have to develop once (and maybe even solve some bugs). The issue is mostly just overpricing than straight up overpricing shit.

Complaining about pricing won't make the math less real for devs. There's a reason most are small teams operating from the second or third world.Buy the planes you like, or don't, but time spent whining about it is time spent not flying.

>>571340463>Am I really going to shell out over 100 carneybux for a single stick of DDR4No, you're going to need at least 200, because a non-matched ram kit is nigger-tier. You will not get the same DRAM if you buy another stick from the same RAM manufacturer, they always just throw on whatever is convenient that week. The only exception is maybe for the really high end stuff, but even then they are checking the pair of sticks to make sure they run pretty similar to each other.
>>571341769Sell them in a few months when RAM price doubles again, but after that this shit could all come crashing down from knock-on effects as the strategic oil reserves start to crap out. t. RAM industry insider
>>571342079>Sell them in a few months when RAM price doubles againWill it really ? Prices seem to have stagnated for a while, at least for me as an eurocuck. Its high enough that i would not even THINK about upgrading anymore.
The La-11 and Yak-9P not having any ordnance options is pretty lame
>>571342175Yeah, it's got probably one more doubling left to go before the AI cucks start to really get nervous about how they aren't really making money with this shit. At some point, there will probably be LLMs built from the ground up with an emphasis on lower RAM and GPU requirements, similar to how DeepSeek showed that there was a lot of fat that could be trimmed.
>>571342393If i'm not mistaken, the La-11 was made to escort bombers, with one less gun and more fuel. Basically a heavier La-9. Hardly made to ground pound.

>>571343613Website and Steam have different reqs for some reason
>>571342393>>571342925La-7 could only carry a single pair of FAB-100s in WW2, the series just wasn't built for ground attack. Yak-9B was the bomber version and had an internal bay, the P variant was made to kill air targets and flex the power of a fully built-out aluminum supply chain.
>>571351536How is Lé 7 anyways? Worth getting if you already have other warbirds, or is it just full of weird commie shit?

This is honestly more exciting terrain to fight in than basically any theatre in WW2.
>>571354693I only own the weird commie shit and am new to DCS warbirds, but really enjoying the La-7 so far. Very fast, 20mm does serious work, automatic mix so all you have to worry about is managing temp with the radiators.

>>571427036I think that's technically true, but so negligible that you don't even have to account for it in the FBW software. Not true in the Tornado tho, I tjink they had to do some weird fuckery during refuel like keeping one reheat slightly on, sume rudder shenaningans and the WSO drinking his piss upside down while singin "my refuel probe has a long hood"
>>571427036>you constantly have to apply a bit of left aileron in the M-346So put a targeting pod on the left side of the plane, problem solved.
