Lessons in Love General #5This general is for the discussion of the English visual novel Lessons in Love, where you take over as the teacher for a class of 20 students trying to make their way through life.>Game linkshttps://djnostyle.itch.io/lessons-in-love (It's free!)https://subscribestar.adult/selebus>ToolsGuide mod: https://f95zone.to/threads/lessons-in-love-progress-and-guide-mod-v0-57-0-cckerberos.106973/Flowchart: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11fllvDn805bE_8JOl7TKOTM40O6LJnkN/viewURM (for editing values): https://0x52.dev/mods/Universal-Ren-Py-Mod-1000Puzzle guide: https://attachments.f95zone.to/2025/11/5442808_Lessons_in_Love_Resets.txtFont patch (drag into folder to fix em dashes in the backlog): https://pastebin.com/Ygj3t9h9>Community worksWiki (includes translations for hex/etc): https://lessonsinlove.wiki/Fanart: https://www.lessonsinlovegame.com/galleries/fan-art/>FAQQ: The world is broken and I can't progress! What do?A: That's intentional. Try to work out how to progress, or check the puzzle guide if you really can't figure it out.Q: Is there any way to find scenes easier? I keep getting lost.A: The guide mod in the tools section will show exactly what scenes are available and how to get them at any given time. It's highly recommended. You can also use URM to raise the affection/lust values of characters if you get tired of grinding them.Q: What kind of /vn/ is this, exactly?A: It's a sprawling, 3-million-word long harem dating sim with an emphasis on slice-of-life comedy and romance that at times dips into denpa (schizo) themes and slowly unfurls a grander narrative as a web of drama forms between the cast. Play the start and you'll soon see what's up.Previous thread: >>570403225

lol that guy is copying posts from the archive to post in the other thread
>>571287449I assume it's some kind of latex.>>571287602Well, considering the first post of that thread, pseudointellectual babble in this place in particular is pretty much what I expect from the "anons" awed by LiL. Though Selebus would probably welcome them with open arms as long as they don't disagree with him.
>>571286705After some googling: 'mi ami' means 'you love me' in italian. If you post it as a question, it becomes 'do you love me?' Next we go to Mi Ami. If we assume it is also italian, then it just becomes 'You Love Me, do you love me?' which makes no sense. The Ami here is capitalized implying a name and the only other language that uses mi as a possessive adjective is spanish. So translated we have in spanish: 'My Ami' followed by in italian: 'do you love me?'Here's the layered part: We have spanish then italian. The spanish portion is capitalized and comes first, so S. The italian comes after and is not capitalized, so i. Putting those together we get 'Si' which is both italian and spanish for 'yes' .Correct me if I'm wrong

>>571292326Yeah, extremely cute.
>>571288317I think there is kind of a misconception around people being "awed" by works, which is not helped by certain twitter users talking about works being "life-changing" and whatnot, but basically all of that is noise. The reaction people have to a work relates primarily to their internal emotional reaction, and then the expression of their internal reaction is basically arbitrary. It's like this: someone who is really, really fucking into sports may watch something like the World Finals with their sports team of choice and then FREAK THE FUCK OUT when their time wins. It may be the most important memory of their life. They may talk about it for decades. But an outside observer who does not particularly care about sports will see NOTHING. It will be unlit dust. It will just be dudes throwing/kicking a ball around for few hours then nothing. It would be pretty easy to call the guy freaking the fuck out about sports retarded, which is in fact what nerdy people do when they mock jocks as being stupid.Anyway, the thing about LiL is that the subject matter and writing style is basically designed to invoke as strong of feelings as possible, so it's no wonder that many will subsequently have strong feelings, then express those feelings in big words or however else. There are two sides of this. One, dudes into nubile teen harems will be overcome with the pure and simple joy of having an aggressive harem of 20 nubile babes aggressively fighting for (his) dick. Two, people with histories of sexual abuse will relate to the overall themes and misery quite strongly - look too to works like Silent Hill 2 and the response that Angela gets. (there is also the third crowd - writers who envision writing a long passion project spilled from their hearts and seeing Selebus be successful doing so). It's not weird for someone to feel and write strongly about it, but at the same time it's not weird to NOT feel strongly about it - no work will invoke strong feelings in EVERYONE.
>>571292306Is there any record anywhere with the chronology of all those events? Every time I read posts like this, I realize that I overlook a lot of details.
>>571292613My post was more focused on the intense negative reaction, but I really liked the second part of your post. LiL is very strange to me because it feels like a combination of many different things and yet it works really well.
>>571292649Making a full chronology might never be possible because of all the interdimensional time bullshit. The timeline of things like Noriko's age in the past doesn't make sense and probably isn't supposed to because of the nature of the world. It's impossible to catch all the details in this game on a first read, which is a big reason so many people are keen to reread it despite its size.
>>571293153Oh that's funny. I was preparing a 3-part response to a post from another thread that I interpreted you as following up on.The negative response people have is EXTREMLEY bizarre to me as well. It's not visible on 4chan, but even people in private communities have the same bitchy reaction. My conclusion is that there's a twofold cause for this. One is that people only want to talk about, or see discussion about, things that they themselves enjoy. Time and time again a game will hit the VN community that splits opinion and causes seething, like Mahosho or [censored] in the past. It doesn't make sense on the surface for people to get so mad about e.g. an SRPG just for being an SRPG. But then your realize they don't want to play an SRPG, so they decide not to play it, then they get buttmad simply for seeing other people playing and enjoying that thing. In many people's minds, they get happy when they see people play things they like, and upset when people play things they don't like. And they contort this situation in their head where they get pissed off just having to *see* a game they chose not to play. So people will see LiL, be like "eh I don't like Koikatsu" or "eh I don't like EVNs," and then get FUCKING PISSED when not everyone has that exact same reaction. They get FUCKING PISSED that despite having chosen not to play LiL they have to "keep seeing" LiL as other people play and enjoy it. They start feeling left out, they feel like their space is being taken over, they feel threatened, it's just a huge mess. I've come to this conclusion: it takes a lot of mental maturity and awareness, somehow, to NOT get pissed at people enjoying things you don't like. And the average person, especially a lot of young people on 4chins, lack that entirely. Especially those who cling to JOP pride and feel like they're losing social status by people liking and talking about an EVN. Suddenly their untranslated screenshots confer no social value like it used to.
>>571286371Reposting the kageaki edit for good measure.Anon put a lot of effort into it.
>>571293153>>571294009The second part is that LiL is "fun to think about." I made a point in /vn/ to keep pointing out how people were so eager to shit on LiL while completely ignoring the avalanche of horrible posts in that thread (blacked porn, mumbai posting, eceleb posting, actual offtopic posting, etc). The question is, why do regulars in /vn/ totally gloss over all that garbage but then get all high and mighty about LiL as if it's the most important issue in their lives and the most critical threat to thread quality? The answer is that LiL is fun to think about. I mean, it's 3DCG, it's Koikatsu, it's an EVN, it's beloved by JOPs, yada yada. It's a totally unique game, nothing else is like it, it's totally new, and so it's really fun to consider and think about it. It's fun to shitpost about Japanese being mogged, it's fun to shitpost about 2D being mogged, it's fun to try to attack it and say it's actually bad, it's fun to wage a war over whether EVNs are on-topic for /vn/ or not... But you know what's NOT fun? It's NOT fun to talk about mumbai blacked porn posting. Because that's just retards being retards. There's nothing interesting about some freak deciding they want to post Kageaki edits and Indian shit every hour of every day. Like yeah, shit sucks, whatever we have to deal with it. Same for eceleb posting, it may suck but it's not interesting, people love gossip so what can you do. It's just not interesting. So people don't talk about it, they don't get mad, EVEN THOUGH it is objectively far worse and more pervasive as a problem than LiL. Just like in the real world, people gloss over serious issues like infrastructure and public service funding while talking non-stop about ever fascinating wars, politician gossip, yada yada.So the negative reaction in part is just because it's so fun to have a negative reaction and feed on your own anger. People are always self-motivated. Always.
>>571294394Pathetic. You should hang yourself.
>>571294394It's a quality edit but it's a Muramasa edit. More on topic for /vn/.
>>571294394KEK
>>571294717I'd be more in favor of a generic Muramasa/lil crossover OP. This one is specifically rooted in Mumbaimasa NTR posting, which is garbage culture.
>>571292613>writers who envision writing a long passion project spilled from their hearts and seeing Selebus be successful doing so>be successfulIn a writing kind of way, I guess. Financially, unless you're at least as good a writer as Sel or are as consistent as he is (seriously, 9+ 60k updates a year is a pretty high bar for games like this), you probably won't ever see 4 figures a month unless you fanservice your way to it, at which point your writing doesn't matter.
>>571294972I meant the "successful" in terms of "making a good thing people like" way not financially successful. Since a lot of writer-types are torn between writing what they want to write vs what they think people will want to read. Though to be fair even Sel got owned by that and had to write this male lead harem instead of what he wanted.
>>571294009That's the kind of reaction I don't really understand. You'd think people who really like visual novels would be excited to find something new they might end up enjoying but instead it's the opposite, they just hate it without even giving it a chance.
>>571294394KEKAROOO
>>571286672Sara isn't a hag, she's an onee-san, and she's somehow even cuter than Sana is.
>>571295465>had to write this male lead harem instead of what he wantedI think I remember that. He wanted to write some yuri thing, right?I still think it depends on your writing chops. If you can't write for shit, even writing some FotM shit will be shit. Compare with Selebus and the themes he's writing, which tend to invite revulsion at best, yet even after showing them fully, the readers are still drawn into the story.>>571296590Wishful thinking. Sana is one of the cutest characters.
>>571296682Sana likes to bitch about creampies, automatic C-tier, Sara's like give me another daughter with hearts in her eyes
>>571295934The people who actually care about VNs as a medium and having good experiences try it out. The haters are those who only care about VNs insofar as they can feel pride for learning Japanese or clout for playing established kamige. For these people, it's more important to them that EVNs are always inferior to JPVNs and no good EVNs ever exist than it is for there to be more good games and for more VNs to be popular and successful.
>>571294574Why are you so sensitive?
>>571297238Luckily LiL is now an established kamige. The haters are behind the times.
>>571296682>He wanted to write some yuri thing, right? He still plans to write it after he finishes his first two games, but that's a long way away.
Good thread, fuck shitposters from /vn/

>>571298164Need Rin sex
>>571294394I'm kinda disappointed. We're only 5 threads into this general and have already gone through our first ever split and threadwar. There was nothing wrong with thise OP, but it seems to have angered someone enough to make a second thread and spam replies. It's not looking bright for the future of /LiL/.
>>571301370That troll has been waiting to make a Kageaki OP from day 1. It's nothing serious. If anything it's close to a "false flag" of /vn/ shitposters making trouble. He made the thread even though we told him not to - and the fact he's spamming archive posts to try to make jannies delete this thread instead just goes to show he's a malicious actor. It's no sweat off /lil/'s back if a deranged /vn/ poster tries to stir up trouble.
Finished the second Christmas chain event. So far the best chain event hands down. And man, the ending, absolute KINO. From Noriko's present, Niki's scene in front of the hotel, Yasu's scene and her song and ending with Maya on the roof. Absolute fucking KINO.
>>571303147Absolutely. This is where Selebus starts to show his power.
>>571303147More kino soon for new years.
>>571301836I didn't get that impression at all.

>>571303147>Yasu's sceneThat scene gave me chills the first time. So good.
>>571306771Yep. It got me interested in her character for the first time. Kinda disliked her before, what with her schizo nonsensical ramblings.
