Could even split them further and have a longer lasting but weaker beam for sweeping hordes and a short lasting focused beam for punching through Crushers, though could just make that the special attack for the beam one.Meltas are I think the only 40k weapon that is remotely original, and it's pretty easy to intuit as to why - the gameplay niche they fill came before lore. Like sure, Martian Death Rays or someshit existed before, but even that is more accurately copied by Volkite guns, as neither of the two are truly as anti-armor focused as Melta guns. I really do hope we get one at some point.
