Is there any reason not to use the flag macro cannons? They seem so much better than the other options.

*flack
>>
>>571387835

>>
>>571387954
They're whatever the non-plasma macro cannons are but you have a "make them flak" upgrade in another slot
>>
>>571388238
Sounds based
>>
>>571387443
On the topic of weg crpgs, I only know price for freedom and its really weak on the roleplay
Conversely imperial chronicles is a visual novel, but has tons of roleplaying. I reccomend it for anyone in this general, especially owlcat fans, they might enjoy it
>>
>>571388257
It ignores the elf illusion crap and just blows them up
>>
Yrliet is a sex pest.
>Yrliet and Marazhai look at the exhibit intently, then exchange glances and a few hushed remarks in their own language, which your Elucidator does not manage to translate in time. It appears that the xenos, in a rare show of unity, do not wish you to be privy to their thoughts.
>Jae - "You are different from your kin, Yrliet, and that worries me. Not knowing what to expect means I always have to be on my guard."
>Yrliet - "You are unusually perceptive for a mon-keigh, and you have such an unruly nature. Perhaps I should take a closer look at you, too."

they will definitely like bastard bonds and portals of pheron

I'm afraid that BG3's financial success means that that Divinity 3 will be more like BG3 than DOS2. I'm also afraid that they will intentionally ruin the perfect design for the female lizards. If either of those things are true then I will be sad and not buy it.

It was good but I prefer isometric desu
>>
I've only played a handful of these games (Fallout 1-2, Shadowrun Returns, VTMB, P:WoTR, Pillars) but so far Wasteland 2 has to be the most frustrating from a difficulty perspective. I wouldn't say it's hard tactically, but the game loves to critically fail me for even the most probable skill checks. 90% demolition rate for the section where I have to disarm an ICBM missile, and I still get wiped by a critical fail when there's a <10% chance of it happening. I've taken to savescumming not because I want to, but because the game would simply be impossible without it. I think I've built my characters relatively well. The game needs a turbo mode because it takes years to traverse these mazes they call levels.

They're just going to say the tired old "10 million flies love shit too!" fallacy, but the fact that it is popular online, popular with normies you meet irl, popular with critics, popular with real critics like BAFTA not fake paid off videogame "journalists", popular with dnd nerds who never touched a videogame, popular with crpg enthusiasts like myself, and so many more means it has an appealing core that does stand up well. All these groups look for different things, which is the cool thing about bg3. People who care about minutia reactivity to something you did 6 hours ago because they love crpg and comparing how much reactivity crpg have because they're genre enthusiasts have completely different priorities than the Astarion girl fans who read vampire romance novels. And these are both looking for different things than the BAFTA critics who awarded Borislav Slavov an award for the OST. We can keep going. The point is that bg3 is not just good for X or Y, it does like a dozen things well and so a massive amount of different demographics were drawn to it. Including some "real fans" despite what the naysayers like to say.

As an avid fan of the genre who has played 100 different rpg's, personally I love that bg3 is a full 3d environment that you're encouraged to explore and use your spells to creatively interact with the environment. You're supposed to Gust away clouds, leap, shove, firebolt sconces to solve a puzzle, etc. Owlcat Obsidian etc could never.

bg3's problems are specific story elements like Emperor being Balduran and Wyll not having agency, they're important but ultimately specific things that you have to know. The broad strokes story is fine and is the exact sort of stuff you've done at the table with your friends for decades, now as a videogame.

The game is damn good, and every metric supports that. Including genre enthusiasts like me. It's not perfect, but it doesn't need to be. It's still a refreshing, high quality game.

There are cases where "just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good" is actually true. And the reverse is true as well. "It's popular, therefore it's good" is a fallacy as well, and is simply the inverse of the flies love shit platitude.

In order to tell whether a book or movie is good, you need some amount of genre knowledge, you need to know what it was trying to accomplish and whether it accomplished the goal, you need to be aware of tropes and genre trends to be aware of whether it's banal or perhaps even plagiarized, and you need to be aware of the impact the work has. If a work is intentionally emotionally evocative and that is the specific goal it set out to accomplish with no other concerns, then an emotionally stunted viewer is going to say it was simply shit. Whether it actually is or not. The same situation applies to a hundred different factors. To a person who no genre frame of reference, a tropey pile of hackneyed scenes and dialogue might seem like the best thing ever. The problem with true, useful criticism is that it requires a breadth and depth of knowledge from the critic. This is why there exists the well paid career of critic.

Having played dosII and knowing the state of the company before, it was about what I expected but still disappointing. Again, bgg still exists

Hold on, I thought it was about the skill checks? Now the goalpost is about the number of choices?

Very well. if you truly have never played a crpg with less choices, then you must have played 2, perhaps 3 crpgs, as even bg1 has less choices than bg3. So you would still be obviously and comically wrong.

>>
>>571424040
No, it's not necessary and will feel like a slog
All the backstory necessary is given in the prologue to BG2.
The plots are not linked other than by the fact of you being a Bhaalspawn. In BG1 you're of interest to one antagonist for that reason, in BG2 you're of interest to another completely unrelated antagonist in a different location.
People will say "but you need the experience of going from running away from boars at the start of BG1, to fighting at an epic level at the end of BG2!" well no you don't. BG2 itself has enough of that growth experience.
>>
>>571423843
You didn’t even reply to over half of my initial criticism because you had nothing to say. Yes, it has less choices and less skill/race checks, and yes, less complexity than the other crpgs I’ve tried

>You didn’t even reply to over half of my initial criticism
Because I don't consider the game perfect, I recognize the existence of legitimate criticism. I addressed the part which was a bold faced lie, which you are slowly admitting to being a bold faced lie.

>Yes, it has less choices and less skill/race checks, and yes, less complexity than the other crpgs I’ve tried
Oh so you lied when you said you tried DOS2 a post ago?
Or the answer is actually "No, I was wrong, the game does not have less checks than other crpgs I've tried, I simply did not like the choices (a valid criticism)"?
>>
>>571424410
Yes, you can.
While they have obvious advantage of extra discipline over you(plus unsanctioned for Idira for pure numberss), better homeworlds, maxed convictions and some MC only benefits(like items or colonies) edge it out (though Eyes of Joyese not being Act 2 anymore hurts dogmatic in that regard).

Santic officer start will do things Idira cannot for example. Or pyre melee gets started with pyromancy early on before Jimmy can even touch it.

It's only not worth it, if you try to do the exact same things )(so warrior with biomancy santcic or Telepathy operative etc)

I would be a priest and die in some battle doing something heroic. For the average human, just making your death mean something is what you can really hope for. This is a setting where being blown to bits by a bolter round is a good death compared to the possibilities, and it's even an honorable one if you blocked that shot from scarring the paint on the tank you were standing next to.

I wouldn't mind being a priest off the frontline too though. Preaching and overseeing the faith of like a city or something.

>>571426558
They do get attacked a lot. Eldar have the most delicious souls so chaos is always after you, deldar love you or the same reason. There have also been cratworlds destroyed by the imperium just because. It is overall one o the better choices since life on a craftworld is relatively better than most other factions, but it's not really safe.

You could also choose Exodite, they are more secluded and are rarely outright destroyed (but it still does happen, Nurgle especially has destroyed exodite worlds), and you have a guardian spirit that swats away invaders.

I had been roleplaying my RT as a hardcore "My crew above all else, swindle everyone else" type of captain, so it wasn't too hard to assume he'd be able to forgive one single mistake, hard as it was. Part of it was on both Theodora and Jimmy anyway, for the craftworld piece that made Yrliet doubt at the crucial moment and for the compromised agent that let Marazhai get a leg in, and since Theodora can't be punished and I felt Jimmy didn't deserve punishment either, I just simply let her get away with the apology.

If she had committed any further mistakes it'd have been straight to blam city, yes. There are limits to this shit.

Aww, I hit a nerve. My favorite games are ones that make me think. Most BG3 players can't read so the game being read aloud to them like a bedtime story is a huge selling point. They're only hyped for a BG2 remake because they think it will be fully voiced and have slow mo combat where everyone politely takes turns.
>>
>>571426119
Actually never mind a Harlequin is better than a pleasure world noble. The soul is protected from corruption and destruction by your living patron god, you are educated on the truth of chaos and your own existence as a child, you don’t need to worry about Deldar raids, you’re immortal and beautiful, you can travel the webway safely, and you can use your natural psyker powers at full power. If I could choose I would be a Harlequin Shadowseer so I can use magic, fly around in my personal spaceship, and interact with different groups safely. You also have a true purpose and you’re the closest to what the Eldar used to be

Jimmy trusting his agent isn't his fault. The agent was solid for a long time and did lots of good work. Jimmy had no way of knowing deldar got to him and mindbroke him.

Argenta was also literally simply correct about Theodora and did nothing wrong. Jimmy and Solomorne only object on the grounds that there were other laws to consider, they don't actually defend Theodora. Argenta was also blessed by the Emperor, since she was able to draw on Mort, which means the Emperor approves, which means there's literally nothing else to discuss.

Well since we're halfway, I may as well mention that Cassia's sins are also super minor. Her powers drive people crazy, and some of them killed 2-3 people and themselves. Ok. It's not on purpose, and it is reigned in as she gains more control over her powers. It's also limited to her immediately proximity, and we aren't told anything worse than a handful of people are ever killed. Compare this to Idira, who gets entire decks consumed by chaos incursions on the ship, and she did it on purpose because she wanted to hear Theodora's voice one more time and a deamon preyed on that. It was invited onto the ship. And the kicker is that we are told this is not the first time there has been a chaos incursion on the ship from Idira doing shit like this. Argenta refers to a "last time you did this".

In terms of party members who are liabilities, Marz is the worst, Ytliet is second, then Idira, then everyone else is a pretty low liability. Jimmy, Argenta, Abelard don't even do anything bad really.

"Everyone gets one mistake" is a fine policy, but it's not being applied uniformly. Yrliet's mistake gets everyone killed in the worst torturous way possible except it's a game and you have plot armor so you escape. Meanwhile Argenta's "mistake" is that she....channeled the Emperor's miracle to slay a heretic that was protected by her office otherwise.

>>571437664
Honestly I'm not even sure how Argenta was even able to tell a random piece of shining glass is Chaos-related. One of the biggest points of Chaos is that sometimes someone will grab a random seemingly innocent object without ever figuring out it's tainted by Chaos, so I don't see how a glass shard with no inscriptions or corrupting energy (you can hold on to it the whole game and nothing happens) could possibly be something identifiable enough to INSTANTLY shoot whoever's holding it.

It's very simple, the ship was being attacked by chaos, and Argenta being the dumb impulsive person she is panicked and shot Theodora. Everything else is cope from her simps.
>>571438339
Oh, Argenta had stumbled upon evidence of stealing the tithe? Or something completely unrelated that as we discover later on Theodora had absolutely nothing to do with? Because yes, indeed, Theodora objectively and canonically had nothing to do with Aurora and the piece of glass, which is what Argenta fucking killed her for.

It was the same glass from Salis Prime. A secret planet that Argenta had been wondering how the heretics even found before her. Then she sees Theodora had taken the glass for herself, and it instantly dawned on her that Theodora had let the location of the planet slip

It also wasn't sitting on her desk, she was holding it during the fight. She says "We need to check on the navigator's sanctum and the enginseer's bay, and I have a means to do both at once" and heads into her office. We now know it was to consult the glass. It was a chaos artifact that she was actively using during the incursion on the officer's deck. It was not "on her desk". People are intentionally lying about the parameters of the scene in order to obfuscate the truth. I swear, every single time, without fail, I'm ever involved in one of these debates, it's correcting outright lies and misinformation.

As I've said several times but these people willfully ignore every time is the fact that Argenta drew on a death word archmilitant, which means she manifested The Passion miracle, which improves your initiative in combat. The Emperor helped her kill Theodora. Nothing else needs to be said. 40k lore experts are even explaining in game mechanics how she did it but these people still refuse to listen.

>Achilleas gives him no reason to assume that he was compromised
Dark eldar do not work with chaos worshippers. A point he himself voices in act 1. The story he comes up with does not stand up against any sort of scrutiny.
Not to mention that verifying that your agent is not compromised after a close and prolonged brush with xenos/chaos is standard procedure. I'm willing to let the last point slide as a demonstration of him having a blind spot for Emelina's people, but not the first point. It's just terrible writing and awkward railroading of people who have written themselves into a corner

Arc rifles are different than normal AoE weapons though. You don't get a cone or anything that you can adjust. It's a single target attack. It's managable early game but later on when you get more melee enemies and a large amount of them you're just going to end up using a backup weapon to not debuff your own party making all those arc rifle talents a waste.

Yes, plus training and testing. They don't have to go to visit the Emperor in person. That's only for astropaths.
Idira already has a top-range implant so mainly she would undergo training. She has a lot of potential since she's been able to manage being quite a powerful psyker without any training at all.
There should have been a dogmatard ending where she gets sanctioned and joins the inquisition like Jjimmy keeps suggesting.

So, funny little tidbit about this weapon.

With firearm mastery, you hit as many times as your rate of fire. You can make firearm mastery increase your rate of fire by 30%. The only attack this pistol can do is burst. It's rate of fire without the cover bonus Trench Warfare gives (20% in partial cover and 40% in full cover) is 6. It fires 6 times.

That's 36 shots

Iconoclast just means you think for yourself. It doesn't mean you automatically oppose the Imperium or the Emperor, necessarily. Any thinking person recognizes the corruptible influence of chaos and knows its anathema to civility and order (things Eogunn values), even if you don't think this specifically because you revere the emperor.

>>571463834
There are examples of people retaining the faith and becoming insurgents when another faction takes over a planet, yes.

If you're asking if people who have never met a missionary and never were told about the Emperor can still revere him, yeah it happens, lots of mystics all over the galaxy will notice the chaos gods and the astronomicon and such warp entities, and will often interact with them, or infer things about them and build their own culture around them. You can see what chaos does to the people it conquers and independently come to the conclusion that you should oppose it, without a missionary holding a gun to your head.

Depends on what you mean by "Chaos World." Something actually in warp thanks to The Eye of Terror, Maelstrom, or some other warp storm? No, such places are daemon haunted nightmares. But there's an entire Order of Sisters and a group within the Administratum specifically for going to underdeveloped human worlds outside Imperial control and seeding them with the Imperial Cult and steering them away from heretical beliefs by any means necessary. This can include stamping out Chaos worship.

>information online is directly contradictory regarding whether strong or low is better
Intuitively, you would want strong acceleration and strong braking on a vehicle, but I'm reading some posts saying it's specifically unintuitive in this game lol.
>>
>>571473461
As far as I can tell it only affects the quick reload skill that allows you to fire off weapons twice. So in that regard strong acceleration is better because you have a larger window of opportunity
>>
>>571473649
>>571473461
I kind of remember it the other way. Strong acceleration makes the acceleration phase short, leaving you with a narrow window for the double shot ability. Try it and see

He isn't corrupt though. He is Saint Francis basically with Drussians being Franciscans. This makes him unusually good for 40k priest too, him coming to defend those refugees is uncommon in this setting.
However it being 40k makes his good nature and his teachings to be easily exploitable for Nurgle.

The joke is that she was always off the rails and only pretended to make a reasonable argument in order to protect the scam she's running.
She's unapologetically evil, but also cunning enough to either pretend otherwise or invent apologies to rationalize what she's doing, which is the defining trait of Baphomet's methodology.
There's a lot of themes coming together in those first few moments of the game regarding our dumb spidercat, but the overall idea is that Lann is outright better unless you're going for a straight up demonic run of the game.

The very first blast of Halsin's seed into Shadowheart while you are asleep or leave them at camp, permanently changes her "scent."
This is a druid thing, he essentially completely marks her as his. Even though he allows you to be with her, the scent transformation is always there to remind both of you about his ownership of her.

I don't even help Shadowheart escape the nautiloid anymore
I stand and watch her pound on the pod, and I say outloud "You know what you did." Then I turn and leave.
Halsin? Dies in the goblin cages. And then I restart. I have done this around 30 times now.

I will never forget what you took from me Halsin.

in baldurs gate 1 and 2 you can cast find familiar and get a familiar based on your alignment, as long as their alive they give you a max hitpoint bonus and the neutral familiars can hide in shadows/pick locks/pickpocket. you can talk to the familiar and put it in your inventory to protect it from dying, if it dies you lose the bonus HP and 1 point of constitution permanently

She acts like one, but you're the same age.
Her biography says that she was born during the Tethyrian civil war, which started in 1347 DR. The Sword Coast iron crisis was in 1368 DR. The protagonist's age is never specified, but you clearly have an adult character model, at most she'd be like five years older.

The protagonist is said to be 20 in the beginning narration of bg1. The timeline is a bit wack. Jaheira must have married Khalid and adventured with Gorion real young if she's 25, and Gorion must have left the protagonist alone in Candlekeep to go adventuring??

>Are other RT warrants not kept on their ships?
Yes. It's honestly rather dangerous and careless. Your ship or compartment which holds Warrant could be easily damaged or even fucked up during Warp jump. And if you die on your ship, you ruin your entire dynasty

Some keep it on planet

There was one guy who was constantly carrying it with him in a special capsule. He got eaten by a monster. Many people are looking for that monster now so they can kill and claim warrant he has inside him. It's a plot hook in ttrpg so you can start as random who actually succeeds at slaying this monsters, gets a warrant and starts his own dynasty

Speaking of Incendia, she even mentions Aspyce in Rogue Trader. She believes that Aspyce is still alive and will return one days. You can talk about it with her

>When asked about her past, JAHEIRA glares as she speaks. She says that she was born in the Tethyr region to a loyalist of the King Alemander regime, unfortunately during the Tethyrian civil war.
I mean maybe it's worded badly and she actually MEANS she was like 12 when her family was massacred, but what it says is that she was definitely born after the Ten Black Days of Eleint.
>>571515084
To be fair that's also consistent with a 13-year-old addressing a 12-year-old.
