I'm kind of torn about Asgore. On the whole, not bad, but I'd have liked a little more interaction with him, a little more about his situation, and maybe more struggle in being convinced to give up on dark worlds. On the other I do like he locked in for that and didn't fall for Flowery's temptation, and that very temptation helped him realise how his attitude towards Toriel must look, and if any character was going to instantly give up a quest the moment they realised it was endangering a family member it would be him, so the "about face" still rings true. So on the whole I like what I saw but would have liked more, especially with him now being sidelined.

I get from a development standpoint why the original plan was to release chapter 2-5 at once. My hot take now that they're all out is the intended release structer still sucks narratively Ch3-5 feel like build up to a climax that hasn't happened yet, obviously because the overarching story spans 7(?) chapters. But with the way Toby brings up chapter 5 as a set cut-off point, I expected that there was some some conclusiveness. Like chapters 1-5 being a self contained narrative, where the grander narrative would reveal itself in ch6-7 recontexualizing the events in ch1-5.That wasn't the case, I don't know what Toby's actually planning, which is fine. I'm in for the ride at this point.But what it does mean is releasing ANY chapters later instead of all at once would've sucked no matter what. In hindsignt chapter 4 feels like the best cut-off point due to having a massive payoff(kill Titan) while leaving you with a bunch of questions. It's equivalent to when you have a 2-parter video game series and the first game ends on a cliffhanger.What I'm saying is I genuinely don't get why Toby thought releasing chapters 2-5 together and making us wait for ch6-7 was a good idea in the first place.

Asgore never believed him until this ch5.* Now we know this can happen because you _could_ just walk away from the Flowery figh and go back up the lightshaft if the game let you.

And yeah, it's kind of a bummer that it was more silly than expected, but chapter 5 had by far the best gameplay and visuals of the chapter, and the character development for Ralsei was great. Really, the biggest problem was chapter 5 not being released alongside 3+4 like it was intended to be. If it was released in one batch instead of having a full year of theories/expectations being built up, it would have been received better.
