So since it’s the last day of pride month, I just want to say I truly believe there is a queer subtext in OMORI and in my eyes, it is the most satisfying way of looking at the game…I know the majority of people disagree, but for me, there's just so much that clicks into place about the game when I view it through this lens. The whole game just works on a metaphorical level with some of the choices that were made. Writing decisions that I consider disappointing or unsatisfying under a standard reading start to make a lot more sense. I'm willing to accept that it's not all intentional or that some of it is just omocat baiting the fans, though I do think that is more an issue with merch. Heck, if I were 100% correct in my reading being intentional, OMORI would be one of the most successful queer games of all time, and I understand why folks would be unwilling to hand that accolade to omocat when they've never explicitly stated that to be the intent. Anyhow, I just wanted to put some thoughts out there about the game and fandom that made me take the plunge and be more open about my sexuality. I was in the closet before I started interacting with the fandom, and have been so much happier due to the impact it has had.So thank you OMORI, even if you didn't mean to be as gay as I think you are.

Even if that's just little trivia bits or little bits of thematic flair (muh flower language, muh pinwheels, muh baseball bat, etc) there's probably still stuff I haven't found out about it. It started my push into trying to "Le Understand" games and artistic languages and imagery in a way beyond just regurgitating what I get from video essays. Ironically, because all the Omori video essays are bad. Not nearly schizo or artistic enough considering how hard you can go with the themes presented. (Religious fears, mental health, traumatized kids, growing up in an idealized past, fiction vs reality, yada yada), even if some people argue it's not good at it, I love how much it tries to present. Even if you critique and think it's hackneyed... There's just so much of it to dive into, isn't there?My least favorite thing is probably... Hmm.. How it's affected my writing style... To use ellipsis... A lot... And how that same depth you can read into things can sometimes send you down very bizarre, disconnected rabbit holes, especially with games that have heavy mental health themes. People warn about diving too deep into stuff like that for a reason. Especially if you're one prone to that kind of connection making.I guess I can't really blame the game for that one, though...
