Survivorbros, what do you 'do' in the game?
I had my two weeks phase this year but I got bored I guess, seems to build fun stuff is the way to go but I'm shit at building and... well, there's hardly a point really.
Then again I'm like a newbie player who hasn't even started playing the game because this run was my first time to enter the Nether and I still haven't even found the End Stronghold or whatever it's called.
I DID however made an iron farm from youtube video and villager commiehouse with most of the shit I need, spamming emeralds with fletcher trade.
>>
>>572237626
Keep building and being creative, you'll get better. Explore the world. Explore the caves. Complete advancements from the advancements screen. Following tutorials like that just seems to ruin the game.
>>
>>572237626
You have to have projects for yourself. The progression of the game itself is easy to finish.

the beauty of minecraft is coming up with your own projects and completing them. what one person finds fun to do in the game might be completely boring to you and vice versa. for me personally, I like building crazy farms that exploit all sorts of mechanics in the game to gather all sorts of resources automatically

meant to add, don't feel like you need to follow any sort of "meta". just do what you want and what is the most fun to you

reposting from last thread:
can anyone think of a more compact way to do this? I want the back dispenser to fire to pick up the water, then the left one to fire twice to place and pick up lava, and then the back one to fire again to replace the water. this works, but there has to be a better way
>>
>>572237626
Build shit. I highly recommend having a continuous open-ended project like a Nether ice highway or just an Overworld horse/pedestrian road, with small outposts every now and again. It's a self-perpetuating cycle that keeps you engaged in the game, the further you build it the more you explore, the more you explore the more ideas you get for cool stuff to build in the environments you discover. Bridges, tunnels, taverns, make them as big and complex or small and simple as you like.

And you don't ever have to go to the End or even to the Nether, that's not the goal of the game, the goal is to come up with your own goals really.

I started my current world by charting the 4/4 maps around spawn and basically codified them as territories. I made it as a realm so my friends could play, but no one has been on yet. My main goals are as follows: I want to build up spawn as a center point of the world, I want to bridge two towns together into a city, and I want to make a great covered highway. So far I have 1 3/4 brick buildings (but the incomplete one is quite big, it’s the brick factory itself), 14 wool and bamboo cartography tents across the world including my main yurt sized one, and a big chunk of desert flattened to sea level for my sugar plantation

One fun thing, after you've got a base going with good supplies, is to go off and find a really cool location to build and make something with a little more form over function. I saw a screenshot of someone who made a manor atop a mountain in a recent thread, and set out to do the same. It's pretty bad ass and fun to defend from raids. Maybe find some big floating island and build out from there.

Also try the various April Fools updates; Craft Mine is a lot of fun.

Any tips on how to get all this?
>>
>>572394642
That's a lot of calcite. You'll need to look for veins of it high up in the mountains. The only other way to get it is from amethyst geodes, but those are pretty rare.
>>
>>572395102
Yeah, well, I'm honestly probably just gonna have to use a map because my view distance is non-existant.

I'm sure you'll be able to gather the required amount by 2028.
>>
>>572394364
I'm torn between either trying to downgrade my 1.12.2 world to 1.0, starting a new world in 1.0 with the same seed as my 1.12.2 world and then merging them when I reach 1.12.2, or just starting a brand new world. I want to do this >>572146120, but I've been playing on my current world for over 10 years at this point, and I'm not sure I want to completely abandon it
>>
>>572396049
Yeah, that would probably just reset your world. Best you can do is copy-paste the chunks with a program (or multiple), and what are you gonna do with all the new blocks? The same seed will look different between versions, so that also doesn't work as you might expect.
>>
>>572398089
I think my best bet is merging the worlds. I was thinking I would just go out in chunks I've never explored in my current world and making sure I only continue to explore in the direction of unexplored chunks. then I could merge those chunks back in with no worries about deleting chunks I've already used. I don't mind if the seed looks different throughout the versions, in fact that's kinda why I want to do it. I like seeing the evolution of the game throughout a world

>>
>>572395102
Amethyst geodes are actually pretty common. Most of them just don't intersect with caves, so you don't find them.
>>
>>572415129
Huh? I'm pretty sure geodes are coded to "attach" to caves, much like the small monster rooms.

Back in 2010 everyone was raving about it, so I bought it when it was about to switch from alpha to beta, cause I figured I'd want to buy it eventually and $10 is less than $15 or $20. And while I played it on and off for a while, it wasn't until 1.14, or 9 years later, that it finally clicked with me. which law does it violate?
why are they simply suing servers and not pressing criminal charges? that's not how state governments charge people with crimes.
I have a private schizo theory that the only reason legacy MMOs still run is because they are propped up by their black markets which operate as money laundering operations for organized crime, and I could see similar processes being used for private servers that sell benefits (assuming they are sufficiently large to move enough money to matter) but that would only apply to specific servers and not the entire, independently operating community.

I really don't give a shit about passive mobs anymore except the proposed birds. This game badly needs more enemies and more variants, preferably without shitty annoying gimmicks, like inflicting hunger or slowness. Biomes should have exclusive hostile mobs which would push for more engaging gameplay and adventuring would actually feel exciting.
Updating hostile mobs would also push them to fix the awful combat system, brewing, enchanting and also anvils.Minceraft needs to get an overhaul to all the older gameplay mechanics.

I never fought a zombie horse jockey so I wanted to lunge attack him with my spear but he aimed his at me and 1 shot me.

I don't remember the details but I remember starting with Indev, back when there was fuck-all to do and I was content with making little beachside farms and making metric tons of bread. simpler times. Infdev was mind-blowing when it came out.

Microsoft is just pissed no java will pay for realms

Passive: birds, just for ambiance
Neutral: boars, could create farmland similarly to how sheep convert grass to dirt, but also ruin your farm by eating and/or destroying everything in sight
Hostile: lich, or some sort of buff enemy that makes other mobs stronger. Basically a priority target to shake things up

Didn't Realms launch before Bedrock?

I agree but my faith in mojang overhauling so much mechanics and making them creative/fun to use is very weak

They can say that the sky is green for all I care. Mojang AB and Microsoft Corporation explicitly allow players to download and host Java Edition servers for online play, it's their right as publishers and is right there in the Minecraft EULA.

I'm finally going to build a trading hall. As lame as I think they are, I'm sick of my villagers with good trades disappearing, or other weird glitches.

My village is overall safe so I stopped running into these issues. I nametagged the villagers to see what trades they have and I can find them at the library during the day.

I'd have to build a big ass wall to do that. I mainly just want it for a few farmer villagers and a couple librarians. Probably 8 villagers in total will be enough. I'll build another village for regular trades.
