Apologies for the incoming autistic wall.I'm up to ChF-2 and I'm so frustrated.I thought this repeatedly in Ch1 through 4, but the writers are addicted to spamming sequences like pic related to build hype, get you pumped for things "to get serious", but then they get completely lost because we have 800 characters and they can't commit to any of them.So the story gets completely lost trying to attribute the same exact amount of screentime to everyone, with no regard to maintaining mood or tone at all when the "camera" moves to the whackier characters, and whatever was built with the intro or decisive moment just dissolves.By the time we've resolved the barely necessary sidelines introduced for no reason but to give everyone something to say, the mood calls for another roll call...but longer, to account for whoever's new and up to the fight now, so AGAIN we get pic related, but longer, to the point it gets comedic instead of epic.I just don't get why they couldn't simply tighten up the narrative. You don't NEED for everyone to be on screen and equally present, that's not how a story works. It just feels so artificial when they then do the epic CG, voiced sequence and serious OST moment, because it doesn't come after building on anything concrete. It's just there.It's like Koreans in general have this massive dysfunction in how they write, mahwaslop usually suffers from these exact issues in the same ways, just on a smaller scale.It's like they believe you can just do "the hype moment" and it mean anything if nothing before it supported you caring.

In hindsight I don't think I've fully enjoyed any main story volume after Eden Treaty. The issues other anons mentioned in this thread are already apparent, but it gets even more jarring when you realise that every new script keeps regurgitating the same conflicts and themes, only with a slightly different paintwork each time. The events are way more engaging because they at least attempt to occasionally try something fresh, and their writing is mostly better because the scriptwriters don't have that much space to meander.

"My work explains itself" != my work is purely up for interpretation, it's in your hands (though obviously, there ARE authors who think this way), but more often it's "if I have to tell you something that isn't in the work to explain the work, I have failed. The work has what I wanted to put in it. I don't have more to add, because I wrote it already"Explaining yourself to your audience could even bely insecurity--though again, I will see it generously as simply "fan engagement" and not "I'm worried you're going to miss the details, or you didn't get this that or X/Y"but still, I do have more respect myself for authors who don't add more to their work after the work is complete like JK Rowling, most fanfic authors, most popular fiction/YA authors, and yes, most otaku authors.

You already wrote all the words and put them into the work--right?I mean if you don't get what I'm saying, I don't know what to tell you. Like Tolkien's LoTR is not deep it's really straightforwardly "an adventure" you don't need any additional explanations (though Tolkien did explain a fair bit, in letters and all that)
