Another failing of this animation that I hope (but seriously doubt) is going to be addressed is how is completely fails to get Sonic or Amy’s character or personality right in their fighting style. Like compare the Unleashed opening to this and Sonic has literally none of the confidence he normally does in his expression nor the smoothness to movements, he doesn’t even fight mainly with his feet. Amy likewise doesn’t show any of cutsie playfulness or comical aggression. Meanwhile, Knuckles, Rouge and Shadow all get across their personalities and character in the ways they fight.

You can almost see the set up in Penders Archie right before he left. Shadow meets Hope and Sally in the same issue. Sally interrupts a fight between Shadow and Sonic. Then 25YL has Shadow married to Sally and for some reason this is resolved in the immediate next issue. Literally when Ian took over.
