It's really obvious that the Knight was originally Asriel and Toby realized that he couldn't do Asriel as the main antagonist two games in a row so he invented Girl Asriel to fill the role. If he didn't decide to make a new character for it then it would be Catty Knight or some shit with emphasis on how close Kris used to be to the Cattenheimer family. The role is more important than the identity because the prophecy is cyclical anyway.
