The Gerson appearance in chapter 4 worked because his presence meaningfully furthered Susie's character development, and many fans wished they could have fought him in Undertale. The constant self referencing in chapter 5 has none of these traits

Are people this dense to not realize the Flowers don't directly reflect anyone because they're plantners who have their own defined personalities regardless of who opens the fountain? Their personalities were shaped by Asgore talking to them, they're loosely based on Asgore talking about the people he pushed away in his life. Flowery is trying to be like a college aged Rudy to keep Asgore in the dark world, Aqua is based on Asgore's recounting of baby Kris. Everyone else is sort of a hodgepodge of what they think Asgore likes in people and none of them are that good at placating Asgore by virtue of being a day old.

Does Deltarune have as many "clever" moments as Undertale? A good example is when you're on the Undyne "date" and she asks you to hit her with everything you've got. If you've just been playing neutral/pacifist this is a funny moment where you get the results you'd expect, but if you did the "betrayal" kill on any of the bosses before just to see what would happen it scares you because you know you can actually one-shot the monsters if they're not ready
