I replayed Forces yesterday because I hate myself and it's really sad that despite already falling far from who she was prior to the Pontaff era, two guys who didn't really know anything about the series before working on it still managed to handle her better than she's being handled now. I've never understood why Shadamy fans push so hard to make it canon. Same with some other ships. The appeal of the ship lives in the tension of "what if", turning it official would flatten the characters and kill what makes it interesting. That's why I stick to defending the canon. Amy's love for Sonic and Shadow's devotion to Maria. That's what has motivated these two characters to go on all of the adventures that made us love them. It keeps them true to who they are. When I want a Shadamy type story, I just have an AI write a private story of it. That way it stays interesting without ruining the source material.
