Tires and suspension are shown in the tuning menu in-game so you don't have to guess that. Then you tab over to Gearing in Forza Tuner and it shows how many gears the tune is using, it wouldn't display 8 or 10 gears if it was using a 6 gear transmission for example. Usually you keep the rear ARB around 55-65; the front isn't always minimum (8-12) or maxed(55-65), you have to test the front both ways to see if you need front stability and/or additional understeer.
