This reminded me that, as far as adapting stuff from the books canto 6 went pretty far. I think it (and canto 9) focused a lot on symbolism and referencing or expressing the book's ideas and plot in less direct ways. Instead of having a cycle of abuse broken by the descendants, we have it broken by the same Heath and Cathy as they see the errors of their other selves. Instead of having Hareton be a literal Heathcliff 2 in the way he was raised and lived, they just have Heath be younger and meet an older version of him that he could turn into, and the same goes for Cathy. >>573331395She more than likely knew it was Heathcliff.
