Redwood is actually a pretty nice map! The ziplines take a bit of getting used to but I think it's a pretty neat map and it looks gorgeous too. Definitely the stand out of this year's summer update.

Its very gimmicky for sure with the ziplines and I think the map suffers from it a bit. Ziplines going straight from both sides of Blu spawn makes it so you fly right over the cart and deep into the rest of the map. The map is very vertically focused being able to scale up tree forts from stairs or a zip line. It's fun in that sense! But unless MosquitoJoe is on your team its hard to really fovcus in on the objective. All the fights are happening above you so you're more then likely going to die if the Red is good at holding their ground. Definitely need to play this one a few more times to get a good read on it but I think its better then your average map.

Now that'd be fine enough but they couldn't even be fucked to put some kind of terrain or blockade to stop the enemy from just walking up to your spawn. There's no small incline to stop most classes that arent Scout from running into your spawn akin to cp_gravelpit but no they can just set up in front of your doors. There are 3 paths outside of spawn so they can come from any of those. Just not a fan of this one whatsoever.

The reason why the BASE Jumper is not valued or used by a majority of the player base is because for the same amount of practice, there are other secondaries that better pair with existing skill expression or casual tool usage. Why should I spend, say, 100 hours learning how to air strafe with the BASE Jumper when I could the same amount of time into learning how to more effective rocket jump to accomplish the same goal of dodging shots? Why should I waste a secondary slot on an item that only lets me glide longer distances when I could use the Gun Boats and achieve the same result, if not more, because I'm saving HP from every shot I take? If I'm in a general, in-door map why would I use the BASE Jumper when a Buff Banner or shotgun is more helpful in the moment to moment gameplay? SolarLight bases everything in his video off of extensive practice and best case scenarios for the reason why the balancing is worse now. Balancing works off of how the average player uses it, not the potential master skill ceiling player getting a hype moment for a compilation. Acting like he's a superior intellect for getting a cool kill with it isn't the same as being a good player. Bloopander is right even if he's a queer.
