playing Starcraft 2 campaign for the first time. the gameplay fits the narrative almost perfectly, it's just too good, especially HotS
>>573616569I enjoyed replaying AoW1 very much a year ago, held up to my childbrain nostalgiaI didn't quite do EVERY campaign route though, only Elf/Highmen and Delf/Undead routes. So I have a reason to play it again to go leftfield with the Lizardmen routesLizardmen did come back in 4 actually, the first DLC added them as a racial form along with a lot of dragon stuff, playable Dragon Rulers included. They were well received, the 3rd most played racial form after humans and elves for over a year. Draconians were attainable too but not as a game-start pick, instead through a minor and major TF spell to tie it all together, but you can straight up just ignore that, have Lizardmen without that just fine turn 1They're not amphibious by default thoNaga are back too, just also as a major TF spell you can hit your people with, think another early DLC added the option if I remember right. Naga form in particular I like their perks and just having the feature of ignoring the hassle of water-embarkingWater tiles and combat in AoW4 is still kind of an afterthought. People are theorizing the next DLC cycle will bring more in depth water stuff, that's been a demand lately since the current cycle added shit people kept asking for like Vampire rulers
>>573622686Eh, sounds like a mess with races not really having a solid identity. Problem with later games (3 and it seems 4 even more so) is they went away from focus on races and race units to other things. I didn't mind class units in AoW3 of course, but being a fan of AoW1 I care about races being their own thing, distinct. AoW1 unit descriptions were cool and whole game has that Tolkien feeling. Also, fun fact I remember about pic related you posted. I beat that mission in 2-3 turns. Just ended up casting the random teleportation spell and my leader's party with heroes ended up in the left top corner of the map. In the nearby small city there was the undead leader. I killed him the next turn and mission was over. kek In AoW 1 you would end up rolling with Leader and heroes in one strong party, maybe plop them in air galley or with other tier 4 units.
>>573624587nta but in 2 every galley was an air galley with air domain. Good game.
>use air to make flying boatsActually, could you do that in 1 too? It's been too long and all I remember for certain is azrac horsemen and wraiths were busted.
Top level players on Stellaris are claiming that the Burn option for Nomadic operational reserves needs to outright give you more debuffs because it's strong enough to keep pace with high and even some top tier meta at the press of a button rather than going through complicated interactions. Are they right?
>>573630898Who cares? Honestly? Stellaris is a singleplayer experience for 99% of the playerbase. There's zero reason to balance it for multiplayer. Total War fell into the same trap and its MP is still absolute dead while the singleplayer people have to accept that some units are shit because they made so multiplayer autist mad for kiting him too well
>>573631820It just kinda sucks to be at the mercy of these metafags. I'm so tired of looking for an interesting build and it's some fag going for virtuality or some kind of gay unity rush shit, but then I see something interesting and it has to get smashed into the ground because there's other people who treat these games like autists treat APM in an RTS.

Welp, I gave it a tryThe idea is great, but the execution..Units get stuck on each other, maps lack variety, combat lacks oomph that even newer total wars had, unit stat comparison from total war is missing and this one might be on me, but my RTX 4070 ti super got really loud at this indie game although I did download it from cs.rin so could easily be a minerTo top it all, on my 3rd run I realised most units are the same and lack any difference, and fighting wood elves is cancer. What the game did give me is the desire to try out that new slay the spire mod for Warhammer 3.
Add the fact the range unit positioning doesn't matter at all as they won't harm your own troops and will shoot through them and you get same thing as Mark of Chaos did.
>>573581758HYUK HYUK HYUK>>573629557Yes, actually. Not sure if it was cheaper than having just an air galley. Of course would get destroyed if dispel magic was used. You could also get water walking or mountain walking spells.

Is there any game that has the same income system than Age of the Ring? I really like how off-hand it is.
Man I wanna love Sins 2 but the balance is absolute horrendous dogshit, Vasari (doesn't matter which subfaction really) just shit all over the TEC and Advent at every single stage of the game. The best ships, the best economy, the easiest and most reliable access to exotics, the most supply for the biggest fleets...My favorite thing is that the TEC, whose whole hat is that they're the giga rich industrial faction, needs to invest giant amounts of resources into trading posts and logistic slots just so to uplift its awful baseline economy to be on par with the glorious Vasari masterrace.Genuninely zero reason to play anything but Vasari in MP, even after the tiny nerf they got that forces them to use more than one ship and that the tech they need to destroy the other factions in wars of attrition got slightly more expensive.I'm 90% sure the game is """balanced""" by faggot devs that play only Vasari, dawn of eldar style.
>>573722596Didn't play 2 that much but that was also a thing in 1.

Should I watch a quick begginners guide for Stellaris? I've been trying to get into off and on but the start feels super slow, I kinda just feel like I'm watching my science ships and waiting for materials to expand my territory. i have no idea what else I should be doing or what small goals I should be working towards. i have over 1000 hours in Rimworld so slow starts/game is no problem but I have no idea what I'm a ctually supposed to be doing or when i should think about building upmy fleet.

Gotta love how much of an utter bitch these AOW4 campaigns are when the deck is stacked against you in a dozen ways. Reminds me of the old days of gaming.
>>573787157I mean, if you wanted a fair fight, you'd play a custom map;
>>573788575These days campaigns are considered a tutorial rather than facing overwhelming odds. We need to return to the Warcraft 3 days where the enemy has demons and chaos damage and level 10 heroes while you got half your tools still locked and your heroes capped. (also I managed to beat off this fight thank god for Swift Marchers letting me cross half the map in 3 turns)
>>573788960I don't, I don't mind that. I have a strong dislike of campaigns in strategy anyway because they're always as you describe, you have most of your tech tree locked out, your heroes at capped at level 1,1, and the enemy is equipped with strap-on and paddles and is hungry for your ass. This is what turned me away form Warrior King Battles despite how often Anon recommends me to play it.>only archers and pikemen>not even flame arrows or supply wagons>meant to win

Finally, we meet the best fantasy race ever, the loli- I mean the dwarves.
I like Lessaria, but damn. The constants interruptions are a pain in the ass. Here I am, building some barracks for my knights, putting down a sawmill, and the advisor who sounds like the Majesty guy interrupts me.I think I know a thing or two about pains in the ass, but this is stil something else.
After a lot of work (putting down ironworks, quarry, and a sawmill, and organizing all my heroes into parties), I finally managed to break into the goblin camp.Only to learn that the blueprints for the objective aren't in that camp but in another.I immediately Israel'd that camp as well, got the plan, and finally the dragon get rekt whenever it attacks.Thank fuck.
Out of the blue, after I cleared a mine out of rock golems and freed two miners, these bitches show up.I have no idea what the fuck they're doing on this map.
After struggling with health issues a lot (and losing a lot of wizards), I decide to give up, and pick a side. This mission is the first where I have access to all factions buildings, but I decide to play safe, and side with "good".So I get to recruit healers, paladins and angels. Who are all pretty awful fighters, save for the paladins, but are excellent supports.Once I have a few healers up (they're capped at 2 recruits per healer building), I shuffle my parties a bit for more versatility.Parties in Lessaria are kinda fun: the first member of the party is the leader, and the party will follow him around. So it's a good idea to make rangers leaders in the early game, but keep one party with a knight leader: these are more defensive-minded.

You play as a modu, a creature that can grow and expand as much as it wants, following an hexagon-based system.Basically, the modu grows new hexagon. Every new hexagon slows the modu's movement but raises it ressource stockpile, and it offers new slots to place organs, like maws (attack in melee), turrets (attack at range), brains (speeds up everyone), and so on.I struggle a big to understand it because it seems you get ressources infinitely, just slowly? This might be bugged. And also, a LOT of the game is about splitting Modu into slower modus, for less HP/armor but more mobility and coverage. I struggled a lot with the first boss because she threw rocks and moved a lot around a small island.
