WoW has always had gameplay that incentivizes highly specialist characters and Blizzard leaned into it early. As much as I like AoC, it suffers from exactly the same type of limited design. You just pick "DPS form," "tank form," "caster form," "healer form" and that's how you spend the vast majority of your gameplay. It's literally just picking a class but with extra steps.In my ideal world, Venomancer specs would be altered to incorporate all of their forms into a given role, and each form would be an extremely specialized form of that role. For instance, say you specced for "DPS," beetle form would be your AoE bruiser form, spider would be your single target stealth burst, weaver would focus on aoe DoTs to apply slow teamwide pressure, and Vizier would revolve around reactive damage effects that punish people for attacking your allies. If you spec for tanking, beetle is basically what you get now, spider gets strong single target debuffs to reduce damage taken, weaver gets snares and CC to control crowds, and vizier gets damage debuffs to make it harder for people to hurt allies. Make it easier to shift shapes and you have the makings of an actually unique classIt's just so much wasted opportunity and unfortunately its never going to get fixed
