I love how eventful taverns become when you have a bunch of mods installed.Lots of NPCs, each with their own name and voice lines, some give you quests, some just chat about life, and one even challenges you to an insult battle.

Fallout also has New Vegas as a measuring stick which all of Todd's offerings have failed to live up to. Elder Scrolls only has unofficial stuff like Enderal, but even then, TESfags don't care for writing or complex quests. Dialog, plots, and choices/consequences are just distractions from loot, kill, return loop. Most of the hate I see directed towards New Vegas, Witcher, or other more story oriented open world games have been from Elder Scrolls fans. Ultimatley, most of us play Bethesda games to turn off our brains and zone out after a grueling 5-8 day of work. We don't really want to think or feel too deeply.

Thoughts on Bijin Warmaidens?
I'm pretty much done with heart of the mountain besides some radiant dungeons and postgame content.Overall verdict: it's pretty solid, with a few caveats. There's some parts of it that really, really do not work. For instance, the main quest hub town is situated in the middle of a desert in a pocket dimension called the Old Lands. The mod has a handful of new tilesets and repurposed vanilla tilesets that it uses for a lot of dungeons and ruins in the desert which all look really good and work well. Then the hub town for the mod uses retextured riverwood shacks and is surrounded by whiterun walls, with a big jarl's longhut/ nordic stave church-type build in the center of it. This is basically the one and only usage of vanilla assets that I think massively detracts from the experience. If the mod just gave us some basic adobe buildings, or shit just used the dwemer huts from blackreach with a sandstone texture placed over top, it would have worked infinitely better. That being said, most of the mod does look pretty good.The writing is... interesting. Without getting into spoilers, the mod has a very dark fantasy bent. The basic premise is that there's a magical tree at the heart of the mountain (roll credits) that bleeds blood which all the inhabitants of the lands consume for nourishment. The blood is now running dry, which is causing the inhabitants to go totally mad and murder each other. Argonian laborers in a nearby swamp harvest "meat" from the scuttling void which the pocket dimension the mod takes place in sits directly on top of. The meat is mildly infused with the blood from the tree and helps to slow down the process of going mad from blood deprivation. There's a small temple with a couple priestesses who are responsible for ministration of the blood. The temple breathes down the necks of the argonian workers to harvest more meat, and a small, corrupt militia force extorts the argonians for their meat as well. (1/?)

The mod seems very afraid to have any consequences for your actions. And at the end of the mod, you literally solve every problem and make life better for everybody. It's very much a power fantasy. I think it conflicts greatly with the dark tone of the mod, but I'm also not one for dark fantasy in the first place. (2/3)
