>>574130617It's a lot of "walk and get 10 ogre asses" at first but tend to get bigger in scale because a lot of content was designed for overworld group play. Dungeons aren't action setpieces like XIV but closer to open spaces with huge enemy density, and some of the harder ones are fuckhuge labyrinths. Though kinda hard to make a general assumption because each expac had a specific gameplay gimmick (sometime its own things but others relevant to the main quest). Zilart has a lot of world travelling, Promathia had a special dungeon you visit a bunch of times during the story, Adoulin's overworld is a huge puzzle-labyrinth where areas are the dungeons themselves etc. But you probably won't really get the full scope of what they tried to do because Retail XI gives you ultra broken NPCs that beat everything for you.

For example, field BGM would reset after each battle, so you only ever got to hear the beginning of each track before another random encounter would interrupt it. However, these things were all fixed in later patches. As they are today, I think the remasters are fine.
