Flowery pulls out every sappy power of friendship cliche in the book to stop Kris and the party and it totally fails and gets him killed where these same cliches work unquestioned in Undertale. I think that's a very interesting thematic echo even the game does lead to an idealized 'good' ending where everyone holds hands and resolves most of their issues and still get to hang out at the end of the day.
