Flame psykers, is there a legitimate reason for one of you to spend 80% of your time spamming the light attack puff? I was under the impression that it could occasionally be useful as a quick ranged stagger but that you wanted to use the channeled flame to actually do your fucking damage? A psyker that I was with was constantly doing that against even individual poxwalkers that I personally think that he should have just stabbed with his sword.

Am I missing something or was he just retarded? He picked up a grim too.

Specials normally get focus fired by the team a bit too fast. I find them more useful as a way to take a rager/mauler out of the fight or pick off gunners. Especially if you can have it dive into the middle of a patrol and explode with the dog bomb.

I'm kind of a newfag to arbites but I've been playing it nonstop all week. Here's my opinion:

In general terms I don't think that the dog is particularly good at killing specials/elites. Every now and then it's useful in situations where you can't maintain line of sight to the target. Like a bomber running the fuck away after tossing a grenade or if some machinegunners have your team pinned down and the best that you can do is hunker down behind some cover while telling him to pick off some targets. I do find the dog to be relatively useful as a targeted CC vs stuff like ragers/maulers. With the "serrated maul" talent I like using the dog as a source of brittleness vs monsters too.

"Go-get-him" biasing the dog to hunt shooters is nice when your team isn't that well suited to deal with shooters. It also helps bias the dog towards hunting squishy targets, which can help with uptime on the "canine morale" talent (+20% TDR and 10% toughness over 5s after a dog kill). I've been getting ~50% uptime on that buff with him hunting squishy shooters, although disclaimer that I'm still leveling arbites and I've just been playing on damnation. From what I've read, if your team is a well oiled machine then you can save the talent and spend it elsewhere.

I really really really wish the chain weapons were better than they are. The heavy evis isn't bad, but you HAVE to lean into crit/cleave with it because Vangaurds exist now. But performance wise, whenever I use it I know I could be getting way more value out of the Relic Blade.

Unfortunately, the devs running Darktide 2 have made the game easier over time, and then to compensate have introduced more and more types of enemies that are armored and resistant to cleave without special conditions being met.

And as you would guess it, a fuck ton of the weapon roster cannot navigate that problem effectively in higher havocs without leaning on brittleness, dot, or crit spam of some kind, which doesn't work at all for firearms due to ammo limitations, and barely works for the shittier melee options. That's why if you ever play Darktide, you'll always see people in Havoc/Auric Mal running the same weapons on their classes.

Darktide at launch was the best the game ever was in terms of gameplay and mission structure. Most weapons were usable and even good, and since enemy and armor spam wasn't as bad most weapons could keep up.

We're talking before shovels, man. The meta weapon for Ogryn at the time was the Bully Club because of Haymaker proccing on Ogryn enemies until Fatshark corrected that after a few months. Once they did that, it was still the Mk. 3 Cleaver for a very long time. Then it went back to the Bully Club because of the ability to stunlock bosses. Then it went to the Latrine Shovels for a short while because they could insta-kill a bunch of Ogryns (which was nerfed almost immediately), but even with the nerf they were still a very strong weapon into most everything. Then it was the Pickaxe. Then it was the Bully Club yet again. Now it's the Power Maul or Bully Club if you're feeling contrarian.

I try to play other co-op games but none of them have the same difficulty level as the tide series. Playing Division 2 and this shit is putting me to sleep. Tried payday 2 and uninstalled because the gunplay was terrible. Even Helldivers 2 is resident sleeper. How Fatshark managed to make something so unique like this is pretty impressive honestly.

What Skitarii gun would even benefit from this? Galvanic is a DMR. Arc doesn't benefit from headshots. Phosphor doesn't have spread. Who the fuck made this and why? Sorry to inform you but if you have to reload your arc rifle on something pretending to be an "arc rifle build", your build is bricked. Picrel is how you build it. Ofc you can also dump mobility, but sprint cancelling the reload animations saves even more time than plasma, and I almost exclusively do it between fights while the passive reload keeps me topped up during any other short breaks or forced melee engagements.

Practically none from the accuracy, because all of the guns that actually want more accuracy, are bad on skitty. IAG is the best one, but that suffers more from horrendous recoil than it does from a lack of accuracy. Shredder probably benefits the most, but then you're using a fucking >shredder

Arc rifle and plasma gun benefit the most from the reduced movement penalty. Plasma gun doesn't usually care, and the splodey one only gets pulled out to either delete bosses or knock over a critical mass of armor that's about to rape you. Neither require expedient repositioning, dodging is very often more than enough, and the -50% penalty is barely felt. The arc rifle becomes a lot better while braced (pinpoint accurate, +1 jump) but the penalty reduction is so small compared to the already huge speed loss from not sprinting/transphobic blade sliding everywhere, that moving an extra meter every 5 seconds hardly matters.

The first attack you make is actually the 4th thing you do to START your heavy chain. And these are weapons that get punished with lower attack speed, run speed and dodges. It's a humiliation ritual for people who think big swords are cooler than knives, which enrages swedes because they have small penises and feel inadequate when they see someone enjoy handling a greatsword

No anon, you can overhead -> overhead -> stab armored elites and bosses just fine, it does quite good damage. You just optimize a little bit more DPS out of it by sprint stabbing. The actual main advantage of the sprint stab is being a powerful opener between fights, and giving you a lot of space from the disengaging/reengaging U-bend you make, keeping you a lot more mobile while retaining good DPS. It's particularly nasty against monsters, and kinda rapes burgles.

40 is close to perfect that Charmed Reload isn't necessary, and I'm pretty sure you really do get a lot more damage per ammo pickup from Dumdum, but that only works when things are going well.
When I'm literally the only one doing anything and my 3 deadweights are too busy actively trying to end the run by blowing up a barrel or burster in my face, never having to reload beats ammo economy, and auric drowns you in ammo anyway. There have been too many scenarios where I just couldn't release the trigger, else some turbo tard would've instantly died to an overhead from the approaching ball of armor that not a single one of my retards can deal any damage to.
I'm also pretty sure you just get plainly more DPS from not having to reload and just spamming away 50% of your ammo reserve before running dry, but that's pure conjecture, I haven't actually tested it.

My generic noosy melee crit build just happens to use the stupid crit arc rifle build because it plugs in perfectly, has complete support, and is only missing an attack speed increase from an ability (I play without slotting one).

I should also mention that, because it's auric, and auric is currently populated with retarded newfags that haven't learned to stick to a difficulty they can actually play, certain director seeds are also just hypersaturated with gunners on every balcony. Dumdum doesn't really do anything against faraway gunners; being the only one doing anything about gunners is part of the reason I dropped it.
I dropped flak and carapace for a similar reason. It just deals enough damage to erase even armored auric hordes fast enough usually. I was lacking boss damage from giving up my plasma for arc rifle, so I just went with unyielding. The gun's unyielding damage is so much better than it deserves to be, and I think should be the first thing that gets nerfed.

When too many enemies get too close in too tight of a formation that might get me cornered, pulling out the plasma and firing a charged shot tends to solve that problem through stagger alone. The 3 shots you get from cold usually suffice to kill a couple bulwarks, too. Normally an ability would solve this problem, but single charge default VE is fucking terrible, and I'm spending my capacitance on the noosy anyhow.
Monsters take fucking nasty damage from picrel. I'm not yet 100% sure whether Power Blast is optimal compared to the guaranteed strength bonus from Blaze Away, I've just been testing it out because it was previously fucking useless so I might as well. Between +25% unyielding and the +25% monster damage node, they just get fucking chunked.

As far as everything else is concerned, the skull is my main source of ranged damage and what I use the most to kill shit. I only occasionally spray primary shots into balls of gunners for suppression or the occasional lucky kill. The explosive charged shot tends to also knock over or otherwise suppress balconies of gunners, assuming they even survive.

I do prefer the horizontal cleave mode, but I don't think it benefits from cleave increases. It cuts through havoc trash hordes extremely well without any cleave, and that's the only test I need to determine whether I need extra crit.
The only time cleave becomes useful is if an armored enough elite absorbs most of my weapon's hitmass budget, but a lot of the time those elites are carapace (caps hitmass immediately) that want verticals anyhow. I think the only exceptions are like... scab shot/gunner squads where cleave might be useful? MIGHT. I haven't even tested it.

The big exception where cleave is very strong, is power sword. Sunder over Rampage cut in half my attacks to kill an arbitrarily spawned clowncar of 10 maulers clipped into each other, attacking only their carapace heads. I believe I went from 19 swings to 10.
This obviously ONLY matters when carapace is mixed into the horde, so Rampage is likely still better most of the time, especially in auric, but Sunder wins when you have 2-3 crushers and a half dozen maulers in your face.

From pure feel alone, the infinite cleave blessing on the transphobic blades doesn't seem as useful, mostly because you can only ever shock/stun one target per hit, so the cleave becomes superfluous, and trades out an extra +16% crit chance that is infinitely more useful in slightly less dense scenarios where you have 1-2 crushers coming for you, and are now much safer because they're more likely to stun in the first 2 swings.

The Arc Maul is boring (yet enormously strong), but the class needed melee weapons and it is quite literally the only canon Skitarii melee weapon. The fact we got a power sword is probably because they negotiated with GW that the sword on the Skitarii Marshal model is a power sword even though it's not even recognized as being a weapon on its sheet. The Transphobic blades are an even bigger shock.

Give them time to tweak the power sword like they said they are going to. The Galvanic is the Skitarii Ranger's signature ranged weapon, so that was always going to be a thing. And the Blitzes they know need a makeover. I normally not willing to give Fatshark the benefit of anything because it's loose promises of "Soon(tm)" but they flat out said that the Blitzes and the sword would be addressed in the patch when they got back. If the Sword's moveset is adjusted slightly and finesse applies, it'll be a good weapon. The Blitzes are the real problem because I can't figure out how they make them stronger without stepping all over the Psyker and the Arbites. Maybe they will, who knows. Fatshark tends to overcorrect.

Also, I think the Galvanic is weirdly under appreciated at the moment since I've seen it used several times in H40. Extremely weird to me, but apparently it works. Let's see what they do first. Even if the other blitzes remain shit, we still have arguably the single strongest blitz in the entire game, and I can't imagine too many people will want to give up their little guys even if the other options are made significantly better.

It's clearly based on the Garand and they use an en bloc clip for it, but they use it as a fucking STRIPPER CLIP. The entire point of the en bloc is just you just shove it inside of the gun with the bullets and the iconic PING comes from when you fire the last shot out of the gun and it pulls the bolt open and it ejects the en bloc with it.

Nippon wouldn't have been easy to do because they do not have anything close to a comprehensive army and the limited army roster they have is decades old and was abandoned pretty much the moment it released.
They did vampire coast because they actually had a passion for le quirky vampire pirates for some reason and GW gave the greenlight. They did 99% of that from the ground up on their own and said it was a nightmare needing to actually design what is effectively their own homebrew faction with GW standing over their shoulder and needing to approve every little fucking thing they did, they've said they don't want to do that again.
They did cathay because GW had started pushing the new cathay model range for the old world and was quite insistent they put it in the total war game, so they really just needed to scan some GW minis and touch them up a little like with most of the other factions.
GW does not give the slightest fuck about dogs of war or nippon right now and neither does creative assembly, they would also pretty much need an entirely new modern makeover to be put into the game, so those will remain absent likely forever.
Whereas pretty much every major faction in 40k, even those as unpopular or insignificant as dark eldar or sisters of battle or tau, all have decently supported model ranges and a fair amount of backing from GW that makes it extremely unlikely any one of them won't appear in the total war game.

I found the grenades rather strong when I used them. Would be my next choice if it didn't take away the skull. It's taking away the skull that makes me not use them, and they'd have to be as retarded as the RPG for me to even consider giving up the skull.

It gives you more toughness damage reduction than blazing piety, more attack speed and damage than inexorable judgment, massive amounts of corruption resistance if that's something you want, and it lets you leave all medicae and healing items to your teammates. And you don't typically play it at 1HP, you play it at ~25% HP since that still leaves you at max stacks. It's extremely powerful if you take less than 25% HP damage every 2 minutes, which isn't much of an issue for experienced players, especially with the huge buffs granted by martyrdom.

There is a reason why GW ignored sisters for like 20 years without giving them any model releases/updates. GW goes for where the money is, and sisters didn't make any.
It's like Sisters of Silence, they are even more unpopular and even less people care about them. GW doesn't support them because no one buys them.

It offers better personal damage than Focus Target, but Focus Target is the meta in Havoc simply for the sheer volume of large targets where the team damage is important. I find Marksman's Focus better for Auric, there isn't enough large targets to justify Focus over the more consistent personal boost.

Guns that get the most from Marksman,
Vigilant Autoguns, notably the burst fire variants
Infantry Lasguns, boosts their headshot breakpoints to let them keep pace better
Bolter as a sniper weapon. Gives it a more generous one-shot spread.
Combat Shotguns, boosts their effective killing range. lets the zarona special shot start clearing out bruisers or boosting the agripinaa's slug shot against crushers

And general damage boost for the other guns. Combined with Executioner's Stance the Agripinaa Infantry autogun can even start hitting a few key one-shot breakpoints

It's just whatever cookie cutter vet you want, with weapons specialist. Dueling sword + smokes gives you stupid amounts of safety, and both weapons scale exceptionally well with crit/finesse so there's huge synergy. The theory is simple and effective. It's actually playing it that's stressful.

You develop a 6th sense for them eventually.
The secret to dealing with trappers is to get them before you have to dodge. Guns with fast equip times and either enough damage to one-tap, or high enough stagger to immediately disable the trapper, are preferable. Noosyskull also staggers them real fast actually.
If your problem is hitting a trapper behind enemies, you might be able to achieve it by adding ranged cleave. Combat shotgun on zealot and veteran really likes cleave increases, for example.

CA was basically designing an entirely new potential model range with a ton of new lore accompanying for GW so GW made sure everything CA did passed the checks they would have made had GW redesigned vampire coast themselves.

The Fanatic Judge burnt down a hab block in their past, because of an accusation of heresy - a hab block can range from the size of a real world apartment complex to being miles tall and wide with millions of residents. If they put a satellite office in either Canada or America, it'd take time to train people to use Stingray but it would solve so many long-term problems. Imagine a scenario where the team in Sweden goes on their mandatory vacation, but the guys in America keeps working. Then they switch. Satellite offices are used to solve these exact kinds of problems, and Fatshark can absolutely sustain that payroll since they'd hire another couple dozen people in Sweden if they could find them.

Think of where we'd be with Darktide in terms of content if the team was doubled, and they weren't going on breaks every 10 minutes.

Meanwhile Khorne offers little to the average hive dweller but there are entire jobs that can sometimes fall to him - each hive has a bunch of guilds and some will be dedicated to deboning, flensing, and chopping up the dead bodies that are to be processed to corpse starch. It's very common for daemons of Khorne to get into the heads of these guys and convince them that since the average person *already* eats dead bodies, why not eat them while they're fresh? And then you get guys butchering people to eat them
The least common in hives is Slaanesh cults, obviously, because most of them that do exist are in the high ranking nobility/spires since they're the only ones with the money to do it. But them and Tzeentch will be the most common amongst the high class residents

I actually asked the question because I had a dream I was playing vermintide in a team of all bardins lul (too much DRG). Bardin is my favorite dude to play, but I can't really see that comp steamrolling like all elgi or all saltz. Most of his careers feel a bit like skub, consistently over or underrated but not accurately judged, I'll think one of his careers is meh and then play it and it feels godtier, and vice versa. The biggest knock against him IMO is most of the teams that win the modded tourneys (DWONS and shit) don't take him at all.

The thing is that Bardin's careers synergize well with himself. Trollhammer is largely held back by its poor ammo supply, but RV's presence on the team completely removes that restriction. RV and OE are vulnerable to getting pressured in melee, but IB and slayer are completely comfortable on the frontline against the largest mixed hordes.

I think that the only thing that would slow down an all-bardin team is if this mode spammed grudgemarked monsters at them that are immune to ranged damage. Slayer would have to step up and do most of the damage to those. RV honestly probably should leave the MWP at home and run the handgun for special sniping duty since I don't think that the party needs more monster damage between slayer, a crankgun, and two trollhammers.

Cataclysm in VT2 is the comfiest difficulty in Tide games precisely because the enemies are just tanky enough for it to not feel like a faceroll - and it means the enemies dont need to be spammed so much.

Comparing to Darktide:

Something that you didn't touch up on that I think is a big deal is "CLARITY". Maps are, for the most part, very well lit with the only truly dark segments being torch segments. The characters in vermintide have vastly different silhouettes than the enemy. If you enable teammate outlines, the outlines are crisp and clear in stark contrast to the cyan fuzzy bullshit. There's certainly no shopclick style bullshit like skills that outline enemies in the same cyan blur that teammates are outlined in. Someone will probably try to bring up the elf's fur shawl in her classic WS outfit, but that's a far cry from being able to dress up like pic related.

Darktide is like they built upon the bones of VT2 and made some improvements, but the team also brought on a shit ton of amateurs that made mountains of game design 101 mistakes.

You didn't need perfectly rolled weapons since any random upgrade from a random chaos wastes vendor would probably be perfectly serviceable. People criticize swift slaying as being the cookie-cutter best in slot for melee weapons, but I still maintain that some weapons did fine running the defensive parry trait or opportunist to bully ragers via staggerlocking. Even the power boost from swift slaying is extremely tame compared to the MASSIVE boosts in power that the shopclick weapons get with their optimal blessings.

I think VT2 combat is a bit overatted at this point, the horde and heavy chains really aren't that much different compared to darktide. What I do prefer is the balance of the combat, its much better. I haven't found a weapon on heavy sword tier yet (I may be wrong).

Strongest case for vermintide is its setting, I own several thousand points of fantasy and 40k, and vermintide really handles it better, I love how bleak the game is. Feels like what you are doing is so insignificant. And the level visuals are really well done. Also the add on to the point I fucking love the chaos warriors calling you out for a challenge. I haven't played cata because lol dead game. But you can get through legend just spamming attacks with good spacing/awareness.

I think Swift Slaying is an excellent point and I use it myself. Its the best overall talent and all it does is occasionally give a tiny bit of attack speed. Its completely meaningless compared to the stupid Darktide blessings where a weapon doesnt function without specific picks.

It's comfy. That's all it's good for. If you're doing any sort of optimization, it's not worth the point. You should indeed simply not stand in the farts, and simply kill the bomber.
No, it's not worth it in fart gas havocs either. You usually either push through the gas, or hole up in front of it. You move as a team, you having resistance doesn't matter to your team.

There is no value in being able to stand in fart clouds unmolested because you shouldn't be doing that in the first place. Pushing through farts near your team is also pointless, just pull out your gun. Rescuing someone in farts is a skill issue on the downed guy's part.
It does not work against tox flamers. The skitarius talent also does not work agains tox flamers. They are flamer enemy damage, not corruption damage.

The useful part of the talent is the corruption resistance. The fart resistance is just comfy but little else. You can build arbitrator to have ungodly amounts of toughness generation anyway, so running through a cloud and losing most of your toughness is inconsequential. If having little toughness is a problem for you, you should learn to slide more.

I almost never take appreciable damage from tox gas. So long as there are enemies nearby you can sustain your toughness, and if there aren't you can sprint through it before it does health damage. On tox gas missions they stuff you with med stimms too. Rebreather is one of those training wheel nodes you could take but you're better off without like the dog.

Tangent: Any testing you do in the psykhanium is unreliable because your curios may not correctly update. All this server-authoritative validation bullshit doesn't work properly because fatshark can't into servers or validation, so you'll have to manually select a different build in the fucking mourningstar before loading into the meat grinder and then swapping builds AGAIN.
I'm bringing this up because I've run into the same issue with testing curio damage resistances, and thought flamer/bomber resist wasn't working at all. It was just the psykhanium playing a trick on me. They do work, entirely, including on the puddles.

eviscerator is my favorite melee weapon in the game but it became significantly worse when the shield fuckers got added in. Now you cant wide swing on a mob without hitting a big metal shield and having it stop your swing. Crusher is also extremely powerful on support zealot, as neither the class nor the weapon are expected to deal much damage, so they synergize well. Great brittleness support, decent Skullcrusher support (it's better when someone else does it during chorus to rape bosses, but it's still good enough knocking everything over for the psyker to deal double damage).

I'm not yet confident enough to call it "better than" relic blade, because it's kind of dependent on the players you have. Being able to actually deal at least enough damage to kill hordes and the occasional crusher is quite a big advantage that RB has.

No. It's just that the net probably has two hurtboxes like most attacks.
A bigger one that is reactive when a player isn't dodging, or has just collided with a wall, ending the dodge.
And a smaller one that's reactive also on dodging players (hence dodging backwards doesn't work, which I'd guess also makes the net disappear if it hits map geometry.
The smaller one will definitely be a lot smaller than the actual model for the net and thus it can graze the wall without disappearing.
