His problem with Venator comes from two problems he has with the game overall - first, that a lot of Deadlock is just about statchcking people. You can pick characters like Venator, Mirage and Billy and just run around statchecking people all game because their stats are just to high that you will win a fight at soul parity against almost anyone. The second problem is that characters don't have a clear point in the game where they're supposed to be weak, which is something i also think is a huge problem. I mean think about it, Venator's lane is great. Venator's early-mid is great. Venator's mid-game is great, once he hits the last point in his crossbow he can genuinely 1v1 anyone in the game. And on top of that he's also a late-game carry. Its fun to have characters who can do things all game, and i understand why Yoshi wants it to be a thing, but if Spectre from Dota could fight from minute one and could solo people with no items in the midgame, she'd be absurdly broken. Almost every late game hero in this game is also an early game hero

venator has a very narrow optimal range, but he doesn't mind being further out of it because you can still shoot with only a bit of damage loss, you can still grenade, and your ult doesn't care, so hes really good at punishing over commitment and people who need to run away.

well his 2 is probably the most unreliable move in the game, and you can just pop his traps(which is something you would expect to happen more and more as players get increasingly competent) so he does technically have crowd control but it isn't crazy impactful. that's a number tuning thing at that point, but it's clear you're meant to melee after a wallstun once 2 is maxed right. So if it's too weak to compete with the other options they need to pump up the damage. But then, you're taking a massive gamble that they won't just mash F and you get parried, which usually means instant death late game (when you'd have his 2 maxed) so yes, you may as well never take the risk and just shoot them while they're standing still. the inconsistency is a major issue because you could make the melee hit literally execute from any hp % and you'd still have the same issue that you can't take your wallstun melee hit without investing in superior duration, even if its a one-shot you're still taking the gamble that they won't parry frame 1 and then you most likely die. Fuck I missed the bulk of the Venator discussion. I've posted a couple times in here about one tricking assassin Ven and I pretty much agree with the sentiment in here.
He's got a generally good kit but it's nothing spectacular compared to other gun carries so he doesn't fit that playstyle...which people force anyways hence the horrible winrates/stats. I feel like he shines as a lane bully and roamer which also happens to synergize best with the way he wants to build, which is exclusively weapon bonus and greens to fill slots.
Someone mentioned superior duration and I gotta say it's easily my favorite purple on him, with slowing hex being the runner-up.
As for shotgun jank, I haven't had a big issue with it and I feel like it's just part of the learning curve. There's been many frustrating whiffs but when I review the replay it usually ends up being my fault. I don't get the parry issue either, I think I've been hit with a preemptive parry twice (in lane with T0 gutshot) in ~150 games. Proper spacing gives you confirms with T0 and T2 gives consistency to 99% of your hits.

Did they change something with how this game is optimized recently?
Past month or so I've noticed extreme stuttering in game. Its not all the time, but its about once every 2 minutes or so I'll just get a massive chug. Everything locks in place for about a solid second and then catches up.
Was just monitoring performance on just task manager, nothing fancy and noticed the CPU would just dip down during this as well, but this does not occur on any other game I play.
Restarting the game fixes this issue, but if I do not restart between every single queue, its basically a 100% chance that issue is going to occur on the next game.

Because you can kill people before your stun even goes off if you build fat damage. The threat of the stun is sometimes better than actually stunning. The delay also makes dispel magic/counterspell hard counter echo shard seven 2 way harder than most other CC in the game. It was popular for a bit but it’s too slow for an item that doesn’t help you farm or fight. For 6400 you could just get spirit burn or escalating or surge and ballistic and suppressor instead and go deathball
