I liked the Spamton moment in chapter 3 and I'm glad we got it but it wasnt wholly necessary. Ralsei's feeling like everything in life is already decided for him by a prophecy is very similar to how many trans people feel, where life was decided for them as soon as they were born and they have no will to choose for themselves what they really want, and only once they accept that part of themselves that is different from their birth sex do they truly feel like they're finally a person instead of a spectator in someone elses body. For that, I love Ralsei's character arc. But I don't think it makes a lot of sense to make him trans specifically because he's a darkner who wants to be more like a lightner, so making him trans on top of that is just making the more subtle and well written metaphor way too hamfisted.
