Yeah, I've done that a few times. It's really not that hard to jump back into a paused play-through for this series. It'll take a few battles to remember how your party works but then it should go smoothly.

I'm sure you were asking more about mechanics though. I dunno, I enjoy a variety of classes. Ninja is always one of my favorites in terms of the actual class and also the himiko portrait. They've got evasion shenanigans, clone shenanigans, ailments/binds, and are always fun for me in both 3/X. Dancer is another favorite due to all the utility she can provide along with being able to be a chaser as well. Also the pink twintail portrait. I usually like buffers a lot now that I think about it because I could throw troub and shaman in there as well, along with their flat portraits that appeal to me. Summoners like necro and wildling are also a lot of fun.

I already answered but going back to this question again, I really do like mystics both in terms of gameplay and the female portraits. They've got both ailments/binds along with healing and debuffs. Their circles also sort of act like wildling summons except they don't take a party slot. Then you've got the dismiss gimmick which gives them more decision making in terms of deciding to keep the circle up or go for a dismiss skill. Just a really fun support class overall.

but they feel like dead weight with the almost nothing healing that only works in battle, the buffs barely do anything 1st stratum gear/stats and you need to pump prayer mastery and/or the healing passive, having very little space for racials.
Outsids of Flame Prayer in Explosion turns I feel like they contribute nothing with Amalgolem, so overall they are just item bots for the first few hours of the game which is not great IMO

1U is the game I've played the least in this series but I think you might be okay. It might be hard to go tank-less unless you're familiar with the series but the grimoire system can help with that. You've got both the buff class and debuff class to reduce attack power if needed. I dunno, I gotta go look at the 1U skill trees again.

Probably medic or troub but again, I've only gone through 1U once while I've done multiple runs in most of the other games in the series. I've used a troub as my healer before in 2U but I never tried them in 1U but they should probably work here. I'm not sure if their fantasia skills are enough for elemental defense or not in 1U or if you absolutely need the protector. Actually, I gotta go replay 1U to give you better advice. I do know that hexer can do a good job of locking things down with suicide word which means damage plus a few free turns.

Well you have zodi, arb, and gladiator so you have plenty of damage and then you've got both princess and monk to keep everyone alive so yeah, you'll be fine. Monk can stay in the front if you want but they're not the sturdiest so keep that in mind. A front mortar arb would need to go in the front as well if you choose to build them that way but it is possible to build effective backline arbs that are also very strong.
