Ninja is always one of my favorites in terms of the actual class and also the himiko portrait. They've got evasion shenanigans, clone shenanigans, ailments/binds, and are always fun for me in both 3/X. Dancer is another favorite due to all the utility she can provide along with being able to be a chaser as well. Also the pink twintail portrait. I usually like buffers a lot now that I think about it because I could throw troub and shaman in there as well, along with their flat portraits that appeal to me. Summoners like necro and wildling are also a lot of fun.

They've got both ailments/binds along with healing and debuffs. Their circles also sort of act like wildling summons except they don't take a party slot. Then you've got the dismiss gimmick which gives them more decision making in terms of deciding to keep the circle up or go for a dismiss skill. Just a really fun support class overall.

Monk can stay in the front if you want but they're not the sturdiest so keep that in mind. Their guide is the entrepreneur and businessman (aka a pirate)known as Sawtooth who was originally planning on ransoming a self absorbed noblewoman and instead found out that there's more money in acting as a guide (and also received several threats from Ohorao's family that if she doesn't return from her adventure than Sawtooth's fate will be grim). Decided to replay FFV after getting intimately familiar with EO and holy shit there's so many fun ways to break this game. I wish we could have something like a Blue Mage but that doesn't seem like it'd work well with the current skill point system. I guess Grimoires are close but I didn't like their execution.

I'd like to see an improved/expanded forging system in 6 if they make it. Go back to slots and give armor forge-able slots as well. Give each weapon type it's own "skill tree" that's unlocked by finding skill hammers or whatever that unlock skills that can then be freely forged to the weapons. So then depending on how many slots your weapon has, you can choose to forge stats, skills, imbues/ailments, or potentially any combination of the above. Maybe make it so forging only costs money and nothing else. Just more gear customization overall would be nice.

EO3's sailing minigame feels too detached from the dungeon exploring. I go into a new stratum and forget sailing exists for the next 4-6 floors, come back to either sweep the next bunch of quests or get brickwalled by a boss only to forget it for another 4-6 floors and steamroll it again

I've played (and loved) Persona Q, Strange Journey, and a few early SMT games, can I just hop right in? I'm concerned about all the party building being up front, is it likely I'll screw up my playthrough early?
>>576613296You can hop right in but if you don't know what you're doing, you might end up making a party that's hard to use. Generally just stick to the trinity of "healer, tank, dps" if you want to play it safe. You can ask for specific party advice here as well if you're unsure. The first two are more rigid in their party making but from 3 onward, you have more systems to help build classes. Of course you can still build bad parties even from 3 onward. As for skill point distribution, you can't technically screw that up since the games lets you reallocate points but it costs levels which means you'll have to spend time grinding those levels back. From 4 onward, it's only two levels but in the original DS games, the cost is harsher, especially in 1. With all that being said, you don't need "meta" parties to beat the games, there is wiggle room with many different viable setups.
