It isn't much, but it's a start. Mushroom biome cities are cool because I can just really flex and do wacky things, like buildings hanging from ceilings, buildings put right into the mud, even automatic teleporters that transport you from one end of the biome to the other.

Visibility still sucks.

>I had completely forgot about OoA... Maybe that can help.
idk much about zenith or its progression changes, so idk if you can actually fight the mechs individually before mechdusa, but the OoA won't really help you if you can't buy the tier2 armors. also the queen spider staff is made from spider fangs, it's got nothing to do with the OoA.

also when fighting mechdusa, don't try and kill skeletron's head first, as that'll make the eyes and destroyer separate pieces that'll attack you from different angles instead of being one enemy

also idk if the surface always spawns harpies and wyverns on zenith mode, you might've just gone too high?
>>
Here's my mushroom city. Gonna make another house for the shroom boy to come in, but I'd like to think this is a good start. Wanted to have some nice aesthetics, make a nice fishing spot, ensure nothing was floating. Everything should have supports.

OoA is more for the table. And about the mechs I don't think you can fight them individually in this seed(I could be wrong though)
>idk if the surface always spawns harpies and wyverns on zenith mode
Seems the ends of the world are very high. Even without platforms if I jumped random harpies showed up.
Thanks for the tips on Mechdusa, will report when the time comes.
Beat Skeletron, the arena was getting on my way. For some reason the spawn rate of enemies went like crazy during the fight(no water candles around, only happened when I spawned Skeletron)
I don't think I'm ready for hardmode so I'm going to fish and reforge all my stuff.

Well, my main base of operations is coming along nicely. Finally got my magic storage up and running. So no more chest clutter. Also got my pylon system up and running. Should reduce the time spent running back and forth.

Still have a bit of a problem with the Ancients Awakened biomes. They've boxed me in and are extremely dangerous (enemies can 3 shot me from full health). So I'll have to be wary of them until I got better armor.

>>

I got an idea for a nice jungle house I can make. Suspended on a massive platform of bamboo (will add supports later) and then I'll bomb out the mud below and turn it into a lake. Perfect for fishing. Then I'll add an elevator to let me travel downward.

Once the main structure is in place, I'll start getting fancy.
>>
>>575272864
turn the bamboo platform into thicc bamboo at a sawmill imo.
you might wanna move the bridge downwards 1 tile so the big bamboo doesn't connect to the bottom of your house weirdly. you can fill in that 1 tile space under the house with background walls like you did for your big mushroom house here >>575172504
>>

>thicc bamboo
You mean large bamboo? I've never used that before, but it's worth a shot.
>>
>>575274263

>>
>>575278156
looking groovy anon
>>575281068
no you're kinda where you want to be, though i'd explore more of the sides caves above the lava level but below the surface
unfortunately nothing would have saved you from that trapped chest, you gotta be attentive. notice the dart traps on the right? those are usually tells that the thing is rigged to explode. there's usually up to 3 explosives below the chest, a couple dart traps to the side, and 1-3 boulder traps above it.
what you can do to complete disarm them is to dig under the chest and grab all the explosives, then open it from the safety of your tunnel. the boulders will drop safely onto the ground and the darts will miss

Since you don't have the cobalt shield yet, I'd recommend getting a hookshot. If you need to heal and you don't want to get slapped around, hookshot to the ground. It protects you from knockback.
>>
>>575288651
I'd craft a bed and place it in the same room as the nurse, then rightclick the foot of it to set your spawn there. That way when you use your magic mirror, you'll teleport right to her room.
Also, what kind of armor and accessories are you using at the moment? I'd be happy to give some tips if you'd like.

Well, I was looking for him anyway, so it's all good. Honestly, the worst NPC for me is the stylist. She is REALLY hard to find, and what's worse is that she's the only one among 3 NPCs that likes the sea, so she's necessary for an ocean biome. There IS the pirate, but I don't want to wait until late hardmode for a teleport to the beach.
>>
>>575296843
*she's the only one pre-hardmode that reliably sells an ocean pylon
>>
>>575296843
You can just move the arms dealer and nurse into some ocean houses, buy the pylon off him, then move a town slime in with the angler and put the nurse and AD back in the desert. I think the golfer also likes the ocean.
Stylist can indeed be annoying though, which is why the rare creature radar is a must.

how do I know if I'm ready to fight the Brain of Cthulhu? what minimum armor / weapons do i need
>>
>>575349358
I would get 400 health, just to be safe. You want minimum platinum armor. I would invest in grenades too, with a strong melee to fend off close up encounters. Make sure you use the gun that comes from any of the hearts that you have to break.
>>
>>575347958
>golfer
>hard
I think anon refers the stylist to be hard because not only you need to find a spider cave, she will not spawn right away. If you look her up with a lifeform analyzer you will realize how easy she gets killed by the spiders vs the golfer who is in a biome way easier to find and spawns quickly if killed.
>>575349358
Invest time in your arena. If you are >>575288032 and you don't have a hook, boots and a cloud in a bottle you won't be able to dodge easily. Make platforms you can effortlessly reach and put the nurse in a house you can easy access.
I see you have decent weapons, but to be safe use a bow with fire arrows as minimum and keep your distace.

File: Untitled.png (363 KB, 1360x768)

I love this little nigga like you wouldn't believe. I know he's completely unimportant to the thorium lore and whatever, but he's just such a fun fight. Not overcomplicated like a Calameme fight.

I died 5 seconds after taking this screen.
>>
File: Untitled.png (105 KB, 1360x768)
105 KB PNG
So I found out a few more quirks about my world.

>Ancients Awakened has a pirate ship biome that conflicts with Thorium's aquatic depths. Both are playable, but need some working around to do so
>the influx of Ancients Awakened biomes has destroyed any giant tree spawns, so I'll have to make one myself and hope that lets me spawn a forest nymph
>I am so thankful that I uninstalled spirit before starting this run, because the biome conflicts would've made the whole game unplayable

Reminds me of the first time I ever tried to play modded Terraria. Threw caution out to the wind and installed all of the big content mods. We're talking polarities, Ancients, Tremor, Calamity. It was horrible. Didn't even get past the Eye of cthulu before the crashes started.

Never again.
>>
>>575352487
Thorium bosses are so weird. They are not particularly hard, but I died plenty of times to queen jellyfish(her tornado and tentacle attack) and this guy for example. The ufo was annoying to beat too.
>>
>>575356017
>they're not hard
>which is why I keep dying to them
>>

>>
>a second goblin army one day after the first

>>
>>575349358
300-400 health, tungsten/gold/platinum armor
what's more important than your armor is to reforge your accessories at the goblin tinkerer to +2, +3, or +4 defense. That's 10-20 extra defense right there.
As for weapons, something like one or two of these, or something that works as well as them:
>blood butcher, rotted fork, tendon bow, undertaker, ruby/amber/diamond staff, crimsod rod, flinx staff, vasculash
the panic necklace is also very good for this fight because it prevents you from being slowed by the eyeballs, but it's not mandatory
>>
Well, the next stop is taking care of the smaller bosses, like Cursed Coffin and Queen Jellyfish. And then of course Skeletron.

Not even gonna think about doing that until I find the goblin tinkerer.

what do you think of the small taste of 3d terraria in that palworld dungeon? could it work somewhat like risk of rain 2 did as a full game, or would it fall flat
>>
>>575401984
Wouldn't it just be Minecraft at that point?
>>
>>575402428
I don't think so, they're fundamentally different
In terraria you start off as a weak peon and then slowly grow in power until you become a god
In minecraft you start off as a weak peon, get a little more defense, and then finally only get a mobility item after you beat the final boss and explore the post-game
>>
>>575405014
Do you think "becoming a god" would work in 3d?

>>
>>575406959
More metroid prime, I suppose. I'm, you're just translating terraria's movement mechanics into 3d
>double jump(s)
>increased jump height
>limited duration flight with variations
>horizontal air dash
>ground pound
>grappling hook
>mounts
etc. etc.
all these mechanics exist in other games

does anyone remember a terraria video that showcased how to get mobs to spawn in lava? it was something like making a pit, lining the floor with platforms, pouring a thin layer of lava in the same layer as the platforms, then hammering the platforms so they're flush with the ground
this was supposed to make the mobs spawn lava when they otherwise shouldn't, or mess with their ai so that they'd drop through the hammered platforms into the lava immediately, but i can't get it to work
>>
it’s important
>>
>>575342478
I had built an arena for fighting Skeletron, which was obviously in front of the dungeon. The jungle was on the other side of the large world. In the jungle, one of my minions accidentally destroyed a larva which summoned Queen Bee. I tried to fight her in the cramped underground jungle but was getting my ass kicked so I used a magic mirror to escape to the respawn point which was at the Skeletron arena. It took a few minutes but eventually Queen Bee came flying there and she was enraged so I could barely manage to land any hits and died pretty quickly.

Been working more on the jungle base. Got the two bamboo guard towers up, and I'm filling up the lake. Had to modify the ground a bit, since underhangs were messing with the fish determination algoritm (IE blocks covering water would mess up the fishing)

Always. That's why I rushed to get better boots. As long as you can duck and weave around his hands, his first phase is a piece of cake, and his skull projectiles are a non-issue if you have some higher blocks to hide under. You just need to be able to outrun him and learn to predict his movements.

i think the vast majority of people do
a big hurdle people have with fighting him is that they don't have enough mobility to reliably dodge his attacks, particularly vertical mobility
i highly recommend getting some kind of cloud in a bottle and then combine it with a red balloon at a tinkerer's workshop (your world always generates with at least one red balloon), and also get at least a pair of specter boots. the panic necklace/magiluminescence/shield of cthulu are good as a third mobility accessory. that should leave you with two more accessory slots to do with as you please, like a pygmy necklace and an old one's army accessory, or a sharktooth necklace and magic cuffs, or an obsidian shield and feral claws, etc. etc.

Boss progression is coming nicely. One last thing to do before I face the Wall of Flesh. It's time to carve up my world like a freshly roasted turkey. Gonna need to make sure no corruption spreads.

Might as well upgrade the ol' home base, while I'm at it. Outgrew the drab wood building aesthetic days ago. Time for something more sleek and metallic.
>>
>>575460305
>>
>>575504926
if you're gonna carve up your world, keep in mind that your tunnels only ever need to be 3 wide. there's a bunch of misinformation floating around about how they need to be 4-6, or sometimes even 8 blocks wide, and that you need to line both sides of your shafts with incorruptible blocks, but that stems from people not knowing how far corruption can actually spread or how it works, and confusing it with the range corrupted /vines/ (also known as corrupted bushes or thorny bushes) can spread.

long story short, corruption spread via blocks cannot cross a three block air gap, and vines cannot spread and touch pure blocks if they're physically blocked from doing so. you can accomplish this by running a rope down your mineshaft on the corruption side down to the underground layer, and extending it upwards about 8-12 blocks to prevent corrupted vines from reaching across the gap

or you could just bomb the border with dynamite, but sometimes that still allows bushes to cross the gap
>>
>>575508520
I go a little farther than that. See, I use bomb fish to physically carve the corruption scars out from the rest of the world, so they can't hurt anything or spread below the underground. I also use biome sight potions to carve out the V that forms after WOF, but obviously that's only viable after you defeat him, due to random variance.

The rope trick is new to me, though. Gonna give that a try.
>>
>>575509836
Whatever works for you! I make these shafts on either sides of my corruption biomes, all the way down to where the biome ends and clean cave begins, then I mine sideways and connect the tunnels so the corruption can't escape. I'll usually make one of these shafts on the inside edge of my jungle all the way down to hell, and another shaft like that protecting my right ocean, and let the hardmode V spawn where it may; anything else I care about can be cleaned up with the clentaminator.

it'll be harder to find in hardmode, insofar that all the enemies will be far more dangerous
the shimmer is simply useful in general to have, and it's likewise easier to find when there are less dangerous enemies to deal with. you can usually find it just by going to the edge of your jungle-side ocean's beach where it meets forest, and then dig straight down until you see the background change

the hell butterflies spawn during the morning, the lava flies during the night, and presumably the magma snails spawned during dusk, but I can't find any info corroborating this aside from a specific mention of hell butterflies, not even on the hell butterfly page, but on the generic butterfly page as a footnote
