Check the JP tourney scene decks making to cuts. It's virtually all crystal/chess, the deck is only true tier 1 this meta. Portal is in this weird inbetween tier 1.5 that is not as good as crystal, but better than dragon and midsword, which are clearly worse than AF and crystal, and are tier 2. Everything else is lower than tier 2. Dragon isn't that big of a problem to be honest. You, it highrolls, and steals games, but it dies just as frequently early game, and is less consistent. Rune both has the potential of highroll, and just a strong consistent early game right now. It's very oppressive in high CR where they know how to play it.

Honestly even mid abyss beats dragon most of the time

i lose to dragon because they get the most lucky hands imaginable

Well, yeah, it's a casino gambling deck for gambling addict japs/asians. The deck has zero skill expression or player agency. There's no difference between a tourney grade dragon player a 1500 CR dragon player. It's all highrolls and hand checks.

I have ~70+% winrate against both with a stormslop portal.
Spam board from turn 1 against both decks. They both having a hard time killing Camiscilla, so most of the time she's an autowin. Brusque Barkeep evo turn 4 is also hard to clear.
If you can, always kill early crystalspawns against rune so they don't draw for free.
Against dragon create strong boards every turn and force them to clear it instead of ramping. Turn 1 coin Eudie into turn 2 analyzing artifact + tsukimi on it prevents turn 3 ramp (or wins you the game if they ignore it)
