I do not see any need to fear Roblox. It is another engine. The main benefit is that it is solved for multiplayer and f2p monetization models built-in. They are implementing ai tools as well. Instead of trying to make my game appeal to a theoretical "general audience", I am instead going to make it based purely on my own preference, with playtesting to account for the onboarding experience and general QoL improvements, and focus on developing a community of players that simply enjoy the game for what it is. I do not want to cave in to the demands of every passerby, this does not seem very productive. People will dislike my game, but others will also enjoy it. Trying to appeal to as many people as possible seems like a bad decision. The struggle is gaining attention in the first place.
