A lot of people are getting caught up in the raw numbers here, but what they don't seem to understand is that this is basically Nexon's answer to the player base gaming the system.For quite some time now, our anniversaries have seen a decline in revenue year over year. The anniversary revenue peaked for 2.5 and the reason for this is two fold. One, we have less players than we used to. Two, because the existing player base became savvy to the eb and flow of Nexon's banner balancing. Which is to say, there is usually only a few banners worth rolling on a year, and most of them are for the anniversary events.So the player base began saving gems for anniversaries primarily, and hoping for spooks. In the worst case, they would have to save up 48k gems for both anniversary banners. But, very often, 24k was enough, since most would get one of the anniversary banners, and climb their way to 200 points for a spark. That won't be possible, and that's what Nexon is banking on. They want players to be rolling 100 more times than they would normally on average. Because, yes, if you focus on single banners, the system is a little better than the previous one, but for those focusing on two banners, which almost everyone does for anniversaries now since the introduction of two Fes banners, Nexon will on average raise the spending of players.
