Honestly at present, they can't afford to use yellow rocks as the currency for skins. Unlike Arknights OG, you actually depend on the yellow rocks as a reserve emergency fund for rolls in Endfield, especially if you're whaling/going for pots; something that you'd rarely do back in Arknights OG.

Worth keeping in mind all the "endgame" gearsets we are currently using are actually level 70, and colour-coded with the same colour as 5* characters (yellow). Next region will presumably introduce the next tier up. Field/story enemies are tuned to level 60, while bosses are level 70. So the game is actually tuned to level 80 teams at the moment. Level 90 and masteries are wholly unnecessary unless you care to trim more comfortably and get the frivolous rewards for speedruns
