I think I'll start up The Old Republic again after all, just a question of whether I'll be a young Jedi padawan girl who falls for a local Twi'Lek villager girl, or a young former slave turned Sith who is thoroughly inspected by her new master. I've played both before, but sometimes it's good to run through the old stories again.

>>575598773>>Thread Question>what game do you play when you get burned out?Burnt out on what? I guess the bottom of the barrel most lazy rpg would probably be Fallout New Vegas or even one of the slop-tier entries like Fallout 4. But I rarely get to that point, usually I play Kingmaker, Witcher 3 or Mass Effect or a non-rpg game unless I played them recently, then I'd just pick whatever other one fits my mood. Its hard to say without specifying the burn out type.

>reputation with all vendors maxed at the end of chapter 3>max level at the end of Euphrates>meaning you have ch4 and ch5 with no new items and all of ch5 with no new abilitiesbg3 had a similar problem where you're max level before you even step into the city. At least bg3 continues to give you cool items up to the end.I doubt they will increase the max level, since that would just make the game even easier and is lots of work. They already did a "xp rebalance" where they plateaued xp gains in a couple areas, but that was mostly in ch1 and ch2, I was still overleveled by the time ch3 started, just like before the balance pass. I'm interested to see what they do for the next patch, though it's likely they just do a similar pass like they already did where they just plateau xp for each chapter. Not even sure what would be a satisfying solution for the vendor situation though, where you max every single one at the end of ch3. That's one where you could add more levels to the vendor, because that wold be new items, which is good.

Gobbet died on my latest run(because i ran out of revives) and i was genuinly worried that she was dead for good and i'd be down a companion. On one hand her being back in the hub after the mission took all the tension out of me, while on the other i'm glad she's not actually dead for good because a shadowrun ironman sounds like hell and i'd be down a caster
>>575605868How come anons never freak out that other anons fuck their waifus?
>>575604963>Not even sure what would be a satisfying solution for the vendor situation thoughMake them exclusive. Raising reputation with casballica would lower reputation with explorators and drusians. Raising reputation with void pirates lowers reputation with the navy. Raising reputation with the navy lowers reputation in criminal circles. It's a fucking roleplaying game. So roleplay.
>>575606408You can't recruit mercs on ironman?
>>575606448That'd be interesting if there was some rhyme and reason to the items you get from vendors, for example the best heavy bolter in the game, the one Argenta really really wants to use is locked behind max faction rep with the pirates. Pasqal's exclusive power armor? Locked behind the Drussians max rep. It'd be cool if they added and Ultimate reward sort of thing where each faction gives you an exclusive item based on your conviction or your relations with them and you're limited to just one reward per faction.
>>575606601I'm perpetually broke in shadowrun
>>575606448I roleplay as someone that's well liked by everyone since I keep donating them shit. What now?
>>575600623I think I'll go with Sith. Lord Zash is one of the better waifus in CRPGs, even if you do have to carry out the romance entirely in your mind's eye. It also plugs in better with the later Lana romance, the stronghold system and so on. A Sith can have a lavish palace, but it feels out of place for the aesthetic ascetic monk girl.

You can one-shot any boss with enough patience to collect and store and then place barrels. This is true for DivOS2 and bg3, it's funny that the same question and the same answer applies to both games. In Divinity, you use telekinesis on heavy objects for similar cheaty ways to kill bosses, and in bg3 you can make a satchel with lots of explosives in it and give it you r strongest character to toss at bosses, and as long as it's one of the satches that has a health bar it can break and spill the contents, which you can then ignite. You can even cheat further by placing a candle, igniting the candle, then tossing the explosives. This is all cheese that no real gm would allow since interacting with objects is supposed to be an Action in combat, but Swen believes in just being fun and letting people do what they want so he made interacting with your inventory a free action in his game.

>>575623254Nah I feel you. It genuinely is unfortunate what has happened to dragon age. Watching an old beloved franchise get co-opted by people who don't care about what made the originals good is something that has unfortunately happened several times recently of note. When I was a kid, and the game launched and the Bioware logo popped up on the screen, you knew you were about to play something good. Baldur's Gate, Kotor1, Mass Effect 1, Dragon Age 1, NWN, swtor, the list goes on. They had the magic, back then. I think Mass effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 were still both good games, but they had some odd decisions like trend chasing. But the bioware name was still solid.Around the time they literally just forgot about the dark energy plot line in mass effect, and then the endings were kind of lame, was when things started to feel shaky. And let's not forget about the Diana Allers thing. This was the first time in my life where I actually disliked something Bioware did, but it was still a pretty good game overall.I also think Inquisition was a pretty good game overall, despite some silly nonsense with Bull and talking about genitals. And the repetitive gameplay. But the music, story, characters besides a couple, decisions, and the party mission were all still good, and Tresspasser was genuinely good so they topped it off with something good again. But now....after Veilguard, bioware is genuinely just dead. Everyone good left, everyone from back in the day that is left has gone off the deep end for personal reasons, and the new people all have agendas that are contrary to just making a good game. It's sad to see. I've written a lot about how Veilguard was worse than if an inexperienced writer was just doing their first project, it's bad in ways that are specific and honed to ruining the setting and characters, I don't know why they did it. It wasn't an accident. The good news is we will always have those old games like DA1, swtor, kotor, etc to love.

>>575623729>which might and magic game is the most beginner friendlyalright, here it is:i always tell everyone to start with might and magic 6, then play 7, then 8. (all of them are essentially in the same engine)mm6 is "the standard" by which those others are judged, has the best dungeons (some of which are some of the best the genre has to offer, period), has hilarious character portraits/animations, and is infinitely replayable (speedruns, one man runs, 4x class runs, etc.)mm7 is probably the most "balanced" of the three, has good dungeons (but not quite as good as 6), adds a little more to the class mastery quests and shifts around some of the really OP buffs from 6, overall is nearly as good as 6 imomm8 is similar to 7, except the "classes" are now are races+class hybrids, with some really broken/imbalanced choices (and unlike mm7 which was mostly identical to 6 in terms of class choices, almost all the "classes" in mm8 are new). your party also now consists of "mercenaries" which can be hired/dismissed/rehired at will, which is very different to the previous two games. overall though, the experience is still very fun.

>>575629034I feel the same more or less, with the same memories of the classics. Its hard to encapsulate my thoughts on modern spaces for discussing rpgs, including here there's a lack of the right tastes and attitudes and interests that fit those older games and their spaces. The feeling of reading posts about Icewind Dale or the community around BG2, that stuff's all been replaced.I also want new things but like the old things so just going back to the classics stops being enough after playing through them enough times. Sometimes someone makes a mod and that kinda sorta scratches the itch but not really since modders, while sometimes decent at what they do, almost always lack the restraint the old studios had to keep things at the right clip and tone.

>>575630107I think owlcat generally does a good job making games for people like us. They have some problems with encounter design but they still seem to genuinely love fantasy and scifi, which is the foundation for making these sort of games, and what the modern alternate-agenda people who have co-opted blizzard and bioware and some other studios lack. If you're just honestly trying to make a sincere fantasy game, if you have that starting brick in your structure, you generally will make a fine product. And for all of their faults, I do think Owlcat's heart is in the right place. And I would vastly, vastly prefer someone who's heart is in the right place but has problems with lots if bugs or boring encounter design or the other smaller problems with owlcat.I know this next one will be more controversial, but I also actually do generally enjoy Larian's games as well, for the same reason. Swen himself is just a huge dorky nerd who grew up playing Ultima. He gets what we're talking about too. He hates the contemporary game industry too. I think it's easy to point at some silly or goofy things Larian does and say their games are all show or polish, but there is a core there too. You don't write, voice, mocap, and integrate as many tiny corner cases in bg3 as they did if you don't actually care. They have animated cutscenes that only 70 people saw because they were stupid decisions or game overs, but they did it anyway because their passion dictated that they should add reactivity to that choice even if only a few people will see it. That's good game design. Lae'zel being loyal to vlaakith is a perfect example.>>575630145I just love crpg and come here to talk about them. Nothing special. >>575632201Some games just don't give you enough reason to hate.
>>575632216Yeah you can play the series and ignore Veilguard. DAO's writing and plot hold up, it is janky to play and I hate the combat but it is still a good game. How you feel about the sequels depends on what type of person you are.

>>575632216Yes, play them in release order and pretend Veilguard doesn't exist. Dragon Age games are still very enjoyable, even though they have some flaws. DA1 is probably the best of the bunch but all three (as in, there are only 3 games) are still enjoyable.>>575632201Yeah, mass effect had a whopping 90% do the Paragon route. bg3 only having 70% save the grove is much more diverse than most games. This is partially due to the fact that this includes early access, and people were more willing to experiment in early access because it's not a "real" playthrough they were going to stick with. So if things were locked in, this would probably be lower, unfortunately.swtor's imperial population is larger than the republic population. That's one of the only times that's happened in games.

I feel like half the posters here do, which is a shame, since I dislike Larian's games, especially BG3.>SwenAs much as I admit the director of a studio does affect the end product quite a bit its better to follow the writers and designers for the most part and the rest of your simping for him is kinda cringe considering he's not even Josh Sawyer tier in skillset, he's just the director.I think there should be less BG3 discussion here in general because it is actually part of what we were relating about: its part of what contributes to these spaces being NOT like how they used to be.

When I was 19 I broke my pelvis and then I became a billionaire. What does this have to do crpgs? I.Did you know there was supposed to be a human commoner and barbarian origin (Avvar) in DAO but both got cut. Commoner was a Luke Skywalker type story while Avvar was almost Conan like. Gaider was particularly disappointed that the Avvar one was cut as he liked the lore. Seeing as human noble is the most popular origin, I wonder how the other two would have fared in popularity vs noble. Gaider said human noble was also his favorite origin to write.I love crpgs praise me
>>575615038The mage origin in Origins always frustrated me because narratively it's irrelevant and it sucks in general. You don't meet Uldred who really needed a bit of expansion, you also don't meet Wynne who could have really filled the mentor spot for a mage apprentice. Instead you waste time raiding pantries for your dumbass friend. The stakes just feel so low and inconsequential compared to city elf, either of the dwarves, and especially human noble.
>>575622424Would anyone want a remaster of DA? It's not like the game doesn't run on modern hardware. Also, imagine if they removed the "problematic" stuff from Origins, no longer a broodmother and instead a broodfather he was a super evil greedy dwarf and beat women so he deserved his current fate Oghren was removed because no one likes a problematic sex pest drunkard and Sten doesn't threaten to rape Morrigan anymore and now understands that Qunari are a diverse culture of different warriors with both men and women (his general was a woman) The creepy rapey undertones of elven slaves are no longer there and the nobility of Feralden treats their servants with respect and would never physically hurt them

>>575631995I don't know, friend. I think I disagree with you.I'm playing BG3 for the first time right now, currently in Act 2, and I feel like you're wrong. The whole game feels like a very expensive but empty shell. It’s as if it was made for people who have never played any other CRPGs. It focuses on completely different things; they spent so many resources on voice acting and mocap, but the gameplay itself is incredibly shallow and primitive. On top of that, there are so many Chekhov's guns that never fire, and the narrative structure is really clunky. It lacks cohesion. So, I'd say BG3 is a game for people who couldn't handle real games. But that's just my rookie opinion for now, as someone who is still playing it for the first time
>>575650602its always your first time playing bg3

I mean you're allowed to dislike popular thing but at least be original about it your gimmick is terribly unfunny + you're russian

I self insert
>>575651068he was caught lying about Sawyer's opinion of bg3 and about Welch's role at larian so now he thinks it's funny to lie about obvious things as if it's a funny joke and not him getting caught
>>575651113>anyone play it recentlynot recently, but I played it a bunch ages ago, its a fun gameIf you want an easy path through the game, magic is probably the way to go. Either by spamming harm through the early game, or by getting your stamina up enough that you can sustain doubling the fire dex buff spell to give yourself 20+ dex and unlocking superspeed and just stabbing everyone to death with melee or throwing weapons. I did the latter and once and it was the easiest playthrough I ever hadAside from that make sure to have a decent charisma. Even if you dont go full diplomancy (and its pretty fun if you do, and it has one of the more interesting mastery quests) its just nice to have a few of the companions around at any time as some have good stories of their own.
>>575651809thanks anon. is it easy to soft/hardlock myself with a bad build, or can anything work?
>>575652661I think so long as you have some kind of combat option you'll be fine. You might even be able to go pure diplomat and rely on companions for the fighting but I cant remember if you get any solo fights by plot mandate, so best to have backupMagic is pretty easy in general, tech can do some really fun stuff as well but requires a little more effort in terms of getting schematics/parts/etc

>>575650602>there are so many Chekhov's guns that never fireYou do realize that the so-called "rule" is a very narrow way to write or approach fiction, right? Not every story is a murder mystery, and not every Chekhov's gun is meant to be fired, even in a murder mystery. Good writers may follow rules, or they may subvert, bend, or break them. The criticism has even less merit when applied to a CRPG because 1. players don't expect impeccable writing from a video game, and 2. the player is expected to ROLEPLAY and steer the story with their choices, not just sit there and expect a payoff for every Chekhov's gun they (mis)identify. CRPGs are not Agatha Christie novels. The player should be an active participant of the story.
>>575654749>The criticism has even less merit when applied to a CRPG because 1. players don't expect impeccable writing from a video game"It's ok that this writing is unsatisfactory dogshit because it's just a game"
When are we getting an Agatha Christie CRPG
>>5756547493. (Evil) I don't like you, die!Quest Failed: Changing a Lightbulb
>>575654992What qualifies you to judge whether writing is unsatisfactory dogshit if you don't even understand the Chekhov's gun "rule" or when it's okay to subvert it?
>>575650602>they spent so many resources on voice acting and mocap, but the gameplay itself is incredibly shallow and primitiveI've never even seen BG3 gameplay. Every screenshot or clip is a dialogue scene, like Shart or Lae'zal talking to you or something.
>>575655018Travelling at Night
>>575654749> Good writers may follow rules, or they may subvert, bend, or break them. It’s true. But also they can shit themselves with liquid diarrhea without taking their pants off.Take Ethel, for example - there’s a letter from her sister in her cottage. Under her name, there’s a title that says 'Sister of the Seeing Pearl'. After you kill Ethel, you can find the continuation of their correspondence, where the sister mentions sending someone to her from BG. And you can actually find this person after Ethel’s death - if you knocked them out beforehand - and they tell you that it’s not over yet. Also, the monster hunter in front of the house warns you that now you should be careful because her entire coven will come after you.Absolutely everything points to the fact that we were supposed to meet her sister in BG itself. But what did we end up with? The EXACT same character with the EXACT same plotline and the EXACT same fight, except you have to destroy 3 mushrooms and she got 1 new spell. It's a total disgrace to do things this way.
>>575655246> I've never even seen BG3 gameplay.Because it is pathetic and all bg3 fanboys:1. Are trying to hide it2. Don't care about it at all and all they want is sex with a bear
>>575655556Wow you seem like you know a lot about what happens in act 3 of this game for someone playing it for the first time in act 2
>>575655909I googled it. I like spoilers

>>575656007At least keep your shtick going for longer than a single post
>>575656089Hun, bro is mad
>>575656089this one really riled them up
>>575655556This is not even necessarily an unfired Chekhov's gun either. Ethel is hinted to be part of a coven, as most green hags are. The monster hunter will tell you that you have made a dangerous enemy, because that's what someone like him would say. This can simply be worldbuilding. You can find correspondence between Kagha and a Shadow Druid who is said to depart for Baldur's Gate. You arrive at the city, and there's no Shadow Druid. Is this an unfired Chekhov's gun, or did you create expectation out of nothing? Don't get me wrong, the story in BG3 is far from flawless, but there are far more glaring issues than Ethel's sister hag not showing up.
I don't care about whether one of you tards really got into this or that plot hole in this or that act, I don't care if another one of you tards really really likes the repackaged feces Larian smeared all over the crpg scene, but BG3 has its own general and it shouldn't count as a crpgg game even if it might be a crpg.
Should I blog my playthrough of BG3, Cyberpunk, or The Old Republic?
>>575656848BG3. It's a relatively unknown game and more curious anons deserve to know about it.

>>575656848I'd rather see Cyberpunk
>>575656751There was originally a plan to include a hag coven in the city but it's one of the things that got left behind during development. The plot line was tied up by the hag survivor's group questline instead. There are several such things; other examples include going to the patriar's section of the upper city, interrupting a plot by Cazador to seize power in the city, having unique patron interactions for warlock Tavs, fixing Karlach's heart at the steel watch foundry, and an entire companion named Helia. Going through the list of things that got cut because development was ambitious and saying the game is bad because of them is asinine. >>575656848Definitely swtor. kotor1, kotor2, and swtor are such good games. >>575663645FakeKhal model is male, so companion cannot be female
>>575664087make it trans
>>575664171Impossible since model is male. Would have to be trans for that to happen. If Void Dreamer is dlc companion then she will be nonbinary just like Kharseth, since that's it's model.
>>575664087If the Custodes can have female members what stops Votann Kahl's from being female as well?
>>575664369You are not getting the pointGW can do whatever they want. Devs which lend license from them can only do what GW allows them to do. Khal's can be female even in lore, but they don't have female model so they can't be given one in video game advertisementThis is the same reason why Darktide doesn't have female Ogryns, even though female Ogryns exists (otherwise species wouldn't exist, duh) and are even mentioned in lore. But all Ogryn models are male, so Fatshark couldn't make female Ogryn modelWhich is why I can tell that it won't be female Khal. It would have to be male Khal. Or other female Votann selected from minis which actually have females among them.

>>575636423The sand was cool beneath Tavana’s knees as she settled between Shadowheart’s open thighs, the night waves whispering just beyond them. Moonlight caught the soft scatter of dark hair along Shadowheart’s sex, finer and sparser than the golden curls Tavana knew on her own body. She leaned in and breathed, finding the scent warm and clean, almost sweet beneath the salt air, and something in her chest loosened with quiet wonder. Her hands trembled only a little as she parted the folds, careful, uncertain, as if the soft heat might vanish if she pressed too hard. Then her tongue met slick skin for the first time, tentative and slow, tasting salt and something richer, and the small sound Shadowheart made sent a shiver through her. She licked again, gentler still, learning the shape of her, the way the swollen bud answered to the softest pressure of her lips. Each careful stroke felt like a secret she was only just beginning to understand, and she stayed there, mouth soft and devoted, wholly absorbed in the quiet marvel of every new taste and the soft sounds it drew from Shadowheart.
